Aside from fiction, where do you get a lot of your inspiration from?

I'm going to assume you're asking me where I get my inspiration to blog.
I get most of my inspiration from my classes. An interesting idea will pop up in my readings, which I then link to anime. But this doesn't mean I write my blog posts in academic language or only consult academic sources in my research. Usually, I avoid using academic terms altogether, because there's nothing more annoying to read than the ramblings of a pretentious undergraduate student, amirite?
As for the more random posts, the ones which clearly aren't inspired by intellectual thoughts in any way, I draw a lot from conversations with my IRL friends and Twitter. I try to get a feel for what sort of observations the anime community will respond to most at a given point in time. Talking to people is great for getting the ideas flowing, although I rarely ever tell others about what I'm going to write until it's completed.
