What was the most absurd character that a player ever submitted to you or played?
Originally, I was going to bring up the swanmay valley girl that my friend Peter decided to play about twenty years ago in AD&D 2E. I don't remember what the whole story with the character was. The Swanmay was a sort of magical lycanthrope, a human woman who received the magical ability to turn into a swan. She was presented in the Complete Book of Humanoids as a playable race. But his was a "valley girl." She ended up rolling an extremely low intelligence so he decided to play it as a sort of dumb teenage valley girl. I don't know. The game didn't last long.
More recently, I nixed a character. The player wanted to play her D&D character as a monster hunter, fine. But she wanted to collect the blood of everything she killed, convert them into paints, and paint paintings. She didn't distinguish between humanoid, monstrous, sentient, intelligent, or whatever (as far as I knew). She just wanted to hunt and kill things and turn their body parts into "art." Long story short, I found the idea disturbing and off putting enough to veto it. I just couldn't stomach the idea. It was a little too serial-killery for me.
