Hellocarly, why no stories on snapchat recently?

What do you mean I keep posting weird things every day. Does my content not satisfy you?

Did you drink milk in school lunch?

I'm vegetarian so I didn't eat the school lunch. Sometimes if they gave me milk I would drink it.

You said that some kids give milk to other students if the teacher isnt lookibg. Why is it forbidden?

Because it's just the expectation of the Japanese group mentality of everyone having to do the same thing.

Oh ok so probably i must drink milk or nothing?

Yeah but lunch is rather short followed by a recess free time kinda thing so you can get some water then.

In the schools where you worked was it allowed to drink something else instead?

The student who brought their own lunch drank water. Everyone else drank milk or nothing and then just drank water after lunch.

But there are schools that do force it?

I don't know because I've never seen it happen. I've never heard of it happening either.

Will they also allow me to get away with milk because its a universal drink...?

I've seen Japanese people get away with it.

Well how many percent of schools will force me you think?

I worked in 3 schools and never saw anyone be forced to drink it.

Ohh how large do you think the chance is that I have to drink it? I really hate it..

I'm not really sure because it probably depends on the school but you can probably get away with it as a foreigner.

When your nude photoshoot photos will be published? It's already a month since you mentioned it...

I don't know. I have no control over this. Please chill.

Hmm ok so do you think that i can refuse milk or will i have to drink it in the end ?

I think you can probably get away with not drinking it.

Any other advices for junior high school?

I think the language issue will be difficult but just go into it with an open mind. I hope that there will be some English speaking students at your school too. I'm sure you can find someone. But I think that it'll be a really exciting and new experience! Do your best and I think you'll enjoy yourself a lot. Japan is a really beautiful country so this is a wonderful opportunity to try a lot of new things. Always make sure to take good care of yourself too. Never forget that.

Ohh um can I refuse to drink it or will I have to drink milk? I really dont like it but please be honest

I think it'll depend on your homeroom teacher and school. I've seen kids get away with not drinking it so it could be possible that you won't have to either. I've never seen anyone get in any kind of trouble for it, if that helps at all.

Thankyou, I think I will enjoy school lunch. I dont have any dietary restrictions. I dont like milk though, will I have to drink it?

They'll probably want you to as everyone is encouraged to do the same thing but I've seen kids give their milk to another student when their teacher isn't looking. 🙊

Hmm okay but I might have to eat things I dont like? So far lunch sounds good though. And which drink I get in school lunch?

Hopefully you'll like most of it or at least enjoy trying something new. I think most schools provide milk. If you have any dietary restrictions then you can talk to the school. I remember a few kids brought their own lunch for that reason.

How did he like japanese school?

He had a really good time! He ended up having to return home sooner due to medical reasons, but he quite enjoyed himself. I remember after he left even still the students were super hyped on learning more English to communicate with him. I think it was overall a very positive experience for both him and the student body.

Well which foods are common in school lunch? Hm and there will probably some japanese foods which I dont like, do I have to eat them or not?

I feel like they will probably be more lenient since you're not from Japan. They won't be as hard on you because they know it's new to you.
Often there's some kind of rice, bread or noodles and some meat based thing and a vegetable. I remember some days there were dumplings or curry and students seemed to be happy about days with that menu.

Yess public school. I know I will have to wear a uniform... Which food will I get for school lunch? And must I finish my plate?

I actually had an American exchange student in one of my schools and he liked that he didn't have to choose clothes every day. 😂
Lunch changes every day. They'll give you a menu. I think it's encouraged to finish but some students don't and it's fine. I think it depends on your home room teacher and how much they care. You might want to google Japanese school lunches to get an idea of what you're in for. It varies a bit by school but it's more or less the same idea.

Thank you so much! Do you know what junior high school is like?

Yeah I do. I worked in 3 of them. Are you attending a public one? The dress code is often really strict. I think that might be one of the most frustrating things initially. Everyone eats the same lunch for the most part. There are no accelerated levels of classes either. Everyone takes the same ones.

Hey I am a 14 year old girl and I will move to Japan (because of my dads job). Do you have any advice for when I go there?

Oh wow cool. Do you know any Japanese yet? I think that a lot of students will be very curious to meet you and speak to you. There will definitely be times where you feel like you don't fit in. I promise there's nothing wrong with you, it's just the way they've been conditioned in their culture. It'll probably get to you a bit but do your best to surround yourself with people and things who make you happy and you'll be okay!

How do you feel about meeting people who follow you on social media? I started following you when you were in Japan, and had only ever seen you on various forms of social media. I saw you at the last years Otakon, and almost said something, but didn't want to look like a creep. or something..

I like it! I have met plenty of my really good friends through social media. I know it's scary to approach people though so I don't blame you for feeling that way, but if you ever see me again, feel free to say hi~
