Hey man, everything all right? Do you have any good and easy VN to recommend? I want to improve my Japanese through the VN medium.

Yup, I'm fine. Here's a few VNs I'd recommend to start with:
- Aiyoku no Eustia - The first VN I finished in Japanese. It's a fantasy story that starts out small-scale then slowly builds up to something huge towards the end.
- Himawari - A pretty good SF story. Some biology terms come up but it's mostly basic stuff.
- Subahibi - Not actually a difficult read so don't worry about not understanding it. It's kind of hard to describe exactly what it is, but there's a reason why it's famous among VN fans. One of my personal favorites.
- Baldr Sky - Will put this here last. The language isn't too difficult, but it's a very long VN so it will take up a lot of time investment. Fairly good pick as a second or third VN.

Why is cultural appropriation offensive to the minority from which an element of their culture is imitated?

as a cultural minority (i.e., non-white person), i say "please shove your dumb assumptions on what offends cultural minorities up your anus"

having had time to gather your thoughts, what do you think about sakura no uta?

I absolutely loved it.
I loved how SCA-JI managed to fit in all these huge ideas into one coherent story. If I could use one term to describe Sakura no Uta, it would be 因果交流. Just as the story is about the 因果交流 of different people that converge on the protagonist, Sakura no Uta is the 因果交流 of many different ideas. I'd say there are three main things that Sakura no Uta talks about: 1) what exactly makes a "prodigy" and an "average person", 2) our relationship with art, and art's relationship with ourselves, and 3) what exactly comes after "幸福に生きよ". Even then there's also ZYPRESSEN, which doesn't really fit neatly into any of the three topics; you could probably just take ZYPRESSEN stand-alone as really good LGBT fiction. The sheer scale of Sakura no Uta's topics is just mind-boggling.
I loved how Sakura no Uta ends at the beginning. Its stories don't end with "graduation", or "getting the girl", or "overcoming this huge obstacle". They all end with a new beginning; the stories we've seen are all just snapshots of their lives, and that they have their whole lives ahead of them.
I loved how Sakura no Uta built upon Subahibi's themes. 幸福に生きよ aside, it goes back to Wittgenstein's "I am my world, and the limits of my language are the limits of my world". While Subahibi told us that breaking the limits of the world means reaching out to others, Sakura no Uta shows just how one reach the worlds of others using art (and perhaps by extension, other media). It's very much a worthy follow-up to Subahibi.
This is just an overview of what I loved about it. I'm still stuck on how exactly I'd write more about it, to be honest. Feels a bit like all the good 感想 have already been written :(

do you think the western audience will take to dies?

Hard question to answer, really. Just based on the huge mystique that the EN community's built around it, I think a lot of people will definitely pick it up just to check it out, but a lot of expectations will be betrayed, for better or for worse. I can't really say it's the most accessible thing either; one of the reasons why Dies is hard to read is because the first route tells you next to -nothing- about what it actually is, and just keeps saying cryptic stuff that you don't get until much later on.
I think the battle chuuni aspect will definitely appeal to a lot of people though, especially to people who are into Fate/ because of that kind of thing. Some people will probably react badly to its message, and some people will probably not even realize what Dies wants to say. In any case, I think this is a question that can't really be answered until the game is finally out. I do hope that it gets popular though; it's a very good game and it would be really nice to see what everyone will think of it.

what are you looking forward to next season?

Will definitely watch:
Eupho S2, Show by Rock S2, Zaregoto
Interested in:
WIXOSS (no more okada why), Shuumatsu no Izetta
Depends on popular opinion, etc.:
Sangatsu no Lion, Flip Flappers
I still haven't watched S3 and 4:
Natsume Yuujinchou S5

@zakuronokajitsu: what did you think of this season?

Not actually watching a lot of shows this season but:
Amanchu: Quite likely my favorite show of the season. Two gay girls join the diving club; one deals with her extreme social anxiety while the other one helps her out. I find this show extremely relatable, having taken scuba diving classes before, as well as being quite the introvert. I really like the use of scuba diving as literally "diving into the unknown", and I really like the show's message of taking a step forward into doing the things you want. The comparisons to Aria are inevitable, I admit, but Amanchu has a lot of things going for it that's not just a retracing of its predecessor's footsteps.
Kono Bijutsubu ni Mondai ga Aru!: Starts out with a really meh premiere outside of the stupidly good production values, gets better as it goes on and still has stupidly good production values. This is my pick for comedy show of the season; Usami (CV: Ozawa Ari) is super cute, Collette's antics are very fun to watch, and I just really like the chemistry between all the characters.
Love Live! Sunshine: See previous Aquors-related question
New Game!: Not much to say about the show really. I find it fun to watch, though it gets a little too skeevy at times. Not caught up to the last few eps yet but it seems there's a few more questionable scenes that came up.
Rewrite: Would not recommend unless you've already read the VN. If you have, skip straight to episode 7-8 for the new content. Only time will tell if the new content is worth it overall, but so far I really like Kotarou's and Kagari's interactions, and I appreciate the new perspective that the show appears to be going for.
Bananya: Nyaa.

What do you think of Aqours?

Much, much better than μ’s, both as a group and as individual characters. Every character in Aquors has charisma and don't feel like they're just being tied together because they were dragged by their leader. Chika is a very good leader - she's not just forceful, but she also feels like she's actually -doing- something for the group. The third years' drama, while it feels they're in a completely different show, was much more compelling than anything that the first season of OG LL tried to pull. Everyone has their own worries and personalities, and not just a vague collection of quirks. There's really no one I dislike in Aquors so far, though I do find Ruby kind of boring. I could go on, but Aquors > μ’s

are you gonna update your prof pic on here to be one of the sunshine girls

don't really feel like it. i like all of them and don't really have any preferences either way

Opinions on the different mediums/websites to discuss anime that you use/have tried?

yurisses’s Profile Photoyurisses
Twitter and IRC are the ones I use the most.
I like Twitter because you have a degree of control over what kind of discussion you want to see in your timeline. I also like it because discussion takes place real-time, and news gets around Twitter quickly.
IRC... it really depends on which channel you're in. I'd only recommended if you know the people in the channel or if you've been in it long enough.
I tried /a/ and TVTropes a few years back. I think I've outgrown 4chan in general; at one point I just got sick of it because there's nothing but shitposting in a lot of the threads that I want to visit. TVTropes was okay for a while but then I realized a lot of people in that site don't really have anything valuable to say.

What kind of watch do you wear?

I have a digital diver's watch. Was given by my dad as a Christmas present around a year ago.

How do you feel about F/sn?

Something that I used to like a lot but already outgrew. I have a feeling that I probably won't like it (or at least, not as much as my current favorite eroge) if I ever reread it in Japanese.

sorry idk how to do that but does this mean you accept me as your bitch now

not until you can write my that blog post

are you reading any eroge right now

Not really. I have Parfait, Sona-nyl and White Album 2 stalled, and I'm playing Summon Night 1 on the NDS though.
