I'm a college student and I really want to upgrade my fashion style. How can I do that on a low budget?

Get into fast fashion, find classic/neutral pieces (black leather jacket, chambray shirt, etc) and focus on making them fit impeccably. Find a tailor at your local dry cleaner & have them hem, take in or whatever you need to fit you perfectly.

Hey Mattie! Do you ever think you will leave your 9 to 5 and just completely do your own thing?

Funny enough. I was let go earlier this month & now I have no choice. God has a funny way of sprinkling coincidences that make you rise to the occasion. Couldn't be happier.

Is there anything you can do today that you couldn't a year ago? What?

Pretty much anything + hold a baby. 😆

I am bald. I would like to do a crochet wig but how do I make it look natural in the front?

Honestly, I'm not sure. Maybe finding a wig cap with thinner band & crocheting the hair as close as possible.

What are your opinions about the clothing store Romwe? Your experiences ordering, the quality of the clothing, etc.

I think I've only ordered from them once. It was ok. Not horrible, but nothing to write home about either.

People say women shouldn't give husband privileges to boyfriends. I agree. But no one says exactly those things are. Can you provide examples of what GFs shouldn't be doing without a ring, please?

I think that's really up to the person. Maybe living together, sharing a bank account, being intimate to a certain extent are some things that you want to hold off until marriage. Decide whatever it is for YOU then stand firmly by it. That becomes your standard. Everyone wants someone who has standards.

I love your style. I'm 21 and will be graduating soon. I want to step it up in every area including fashion. I'm on a college student budget. Advice please ! What can I do to look fashionable but, save money.

Congrats! Be yourself & work hard. You can make fast fashion look expensive or higher end by sticking with neutrals & finding pieces that fit (not too tight or too loose.) If you find an amazing dress that doesn't fit perfectly, take an extra $20 and take to the cleaners for them to tailor it. Worth it and that piece will last in your closet longer.

Hi Mattie! Do you have any suggestions for how to build relationships with online contacts? I work from home and my job allows me to e-meet and communicate with great professionals in my industry, but I am not sure how to take these contacts from gmail to real life.

I think being genuinely interested in someone always makes them interested in you. Send specific, "I think you're fly" emails or regularly comment on someone's blog. Eventually a relationship should emerge and then ask if they want to grab a coffee. Or invite them to an event that you know they'd really enjoy because of the research you've done on them.

It seems to me that you are really disciplined. What is your daily schedule like? Do you mind posting it on your blog?

I'll certainly do a post on my daily life. I recently shared my daily schedule on the blog. I try my best to pre plan my day - personally and professionally - which helps me keep my thoughts organized. I wear many hats - wife, mom, blogger, manager - so planning helps me stay sane. A well written things to do list is the wind beneath my wings. 😂

What are some of your favorite blogs?

I love The Style & Beauty Doctor, Cupcakes & Cashmere, Ria Michelle, DesignLoveFest & Love Taza.

Tomorrow I have lunch with a young woman I admire that's in the same industry as me. This is my first networking lunch and I wanted to know : do you have you any suggestions for me on connecting with other women? Should I bring ideas for possible collaborations?

I think the most important thing you can bring to the table is knowledge of who you're having lunch with, their latest success/accomplishment and a genuine interest in them. That will make conversation flow naturally and if it gets to that point, coming up with a collaboration idea will come organically.

What would you consider to be the best moment of your life thus far? close

Becoming a mother. It taught me a type of selflessness that only life itself could teach.

What is your favorite magazine?

At one point in time it used to be ELLE. I also really enjoy Marie Claire, Glamour & ESSENCE, but nowadays I'm more inspired by lifestyle sites and blogs.

I love how naturally chic you are--in branding & as a person and your writing. Did it take you some time to find your "voice"?

Thanks, Narsha. It took some time, but my voice really became sound when I committed to being authentic to where I was in life. A lot of times we carry the baggage of where we were or become slightly delusion about where we want to be. Being present was how I found my voice and it allowed for a certain transparency which is incredibly approachable.

How do you know when you've made the right decision? I'm a new mom in a difficult situation and in order to move forward, I've got some decisions to make. I am learning to put my faith in God but amidst the chaos, I can't always hear my intuition.

If you pray about a decision, have faith and move forward with it. Take action and God will guide you in the right direction. I answer more in detail in my Ask Mattie video: http://youtu.be/Sh5-J84hwkIMattieologie’s Video 124192539845 Sh5-J84hwkIMattieologie’s Video 124192539845 Sh5-J84hwkI

Hi Mattie! What would you say is the number one thing that keeps your marriage strong?

That it's MY relationship. When you allow too many hands in your relationship pot, that's when things get messy. I answer more in detail in my Ask Mattie video: http://youtu.be/Sh5-J84hwkIMattieologie’s Video 124480933317 Sh5-J84hwkIMattieologie’s Video 124480933317 Sh5-J84hwkI

Do you generate income from your blog? If you do, how so? What advice would you give to someone wanting to blog full time and receive an income from doing so?

I do. Through brand partnerships, collaborations & hosting gigs. It takes a lot of work and took a while before I was making real money but it happened. What is the most fascinating thing you have experienced about being a mother so far?

Like, everything. I can't believe this little person came from me. That she's of me. The bond we share is amazing. I answer more in detail in my Ask Mattie video: http://youtu.be/Sh5-J84hwkIMattieologie’s Video 124481305797 Sh5-J84hwkIMattieologie’s Video 124481305797 Sh5-J84hwkI

What advice would you give a new blogger as far as how to promote their blog and get it attention?

Tell EVERYONE. And then tell them to tell everyone. Use your social media as well. Be strategic & share your content OFTEN. I go into detail on my Ask Mattie video: http://youtu.be/Sh5-J84hwkIMattieologie’s Video 124481316549 Sh5-J84hwkIMattieologie’s Video 124481316549 Sh5-J84hwkI

How can someone become a style blogger and build a platform as you have!

Just start. Buy a domain & start blogging. Share your content on social media + via word of mouth. Whether you're talking about celebrity fashion, beauty trends or your personal style just write/blog what you're interested in. No one starts at the top. Luckily you don't have to be great to start but you have to start to be great! Don't just dream...DO! Best of luck!

How do you maintain your relationship & marriage? Most important things that have helped make your marriage successful?

Respect first. Communication second. Also, making sure that the only people making decisions in my marriage is me & the person I'm married to. I'm careful not to let outside opinions affect decisions inside my relationship.

I notice the simplicity of your blog do you ever think you'll change the format in the future?

I love a simple layout. I'll be changing it again before the end of the year. It will still be really simple.
