I'd study, I love learning new things and take evening courses now. If I was in prison I'd use the time to study in more depth, astronomy perhaps... not that I could do much field work! That's assuming I was in prison for something I'd actually done, if I was innocent I'd spend my time trying to get out!

I would not have a problem with it. People are what they are and only make themselves miserable if they try to be something they are not. My only concern would be the reactions of others, unfortunately those less tolerant can make life difficult and dangerous.
