Many emotions came to him at once: confused, happy, angry, sad, longing, and love. Jarvis didn't pull away nor push him off. He just let Steve hug him.
Jarvis did turn to see him now that Steve spoke to him. He missed his voice. He missed the sight of him. He missed him. He wasn't supposed to feel like this, but he did anyway. "Greeting, Captain Rogers."
"Its nice to see you." Steve smiled nervously. "You... How have you...." His look turned rather sad, then he just crossed the room and hugged Jarvis tight. "I'm sorry."
Jarvis felt like there was another presence in the room. He was about to turn around, but he caught the sight of Steve in a reflection on the window. And that made him stopped. He didn't know what to do nor say to him. So he just stood there where he was.
It took a while before Steve moved again and stepped into the room. He carefully dropped his bag on the ground before he looked up again. "Hey", he said, and when he felt like that wouldn't be quite enough he added: "You look good."
Jarvis secretly changed into his human form, going into the Captain's floor to clean it. Steve was away for too long, there was dust and webs everywhere. The place seemed so empty and lifeless. His heart ached just by looking at it. So he came in and cleaned things up (to get himself occupied).
When Steve returned to the Stark Tower, he was a little concerned when Jarvis didnt answer him right away. He expected to find his room abandoned, like the rest of the building that lay in complete stillness, and Jarvis' presence was a surprise. He froze in the doorframe, unsure what to say.
The same thing i do now, I guess. I mean, come on. It really doesnt make a difference, just look at Peggy. Look at Natasha. Gender is not the point - if you're soldier at heart, nothing will change that.
