i know right.... i want fic where taehyung is a merperson who jimin rescues when he's washed up on shore tangled in an old fishing net as a child, and they grow up as secret friends, swapping stories about land and sea. taehyung is always stopping jimin to make him explain what land things are, and jimin usually ends up exasperated when he cant explain what a vacuum cleaner is or what a squirrel looks like and finishes with "it would be so much easier if i could just /show/ you". he starts bringing random things to the sea to show taehyung and in return taehyung brings him pretty shells and tells him stories about the magical underwater kingdom he comes from.
jimin, who had some kind of near drowning experience as a child has refused to go in the water the entire time he's known taehyung, but when they grow up a bit taehyung makes it his personal project to help jimin get over his fear of the water. by the time taehyung's 18th birthday comes, jimin has decided he wants to let taehyung show him his world finally. he's secretly been working for namjoon, saving up to buy scuba diving gear but little does he know that on merpeoples' coming of age days, they are granted one wish.
he shows up on the beach all ready to surprise taehyung with his scuba gear, only to see taehyung stumbling out of the waves grinning like an idiot, wobbling on two unfairly long shapely legs. taehyung leans against a rock grinning from ear to ear as jimin approaches, stunned speechless.
"i always knew i'd be taller than you if i had legs" taehyung taunts cheekily, taking a step forward and promptly tumbling to the ground, smile still plastered to his face as he suddenly finds himself looking up at jimins rapidly lightening expression.
"that's more like it, beneath me where you belong," jimin grins before taehyung pulls his legs out from under him and he finds himself sprawled next to his newly bipedal friend.
taehyung has 24 hours to experience the wonders of being a two legger so jimin decides to take him through the entire experience... 1-18 years of life in the one day they have together on land. they go from the playground to the zoo to the arcade and end up at the club all the seniors like to go out to on weekends...
