Finished reading this masterpiece by Bano Qudisa. A book that makes you more close to Urdu Literature and Culture. An amalgam of philosophy and psychology, It covers different aspects of human nature.
Mainly it uncovers the reasons for the “DEEWANGI” of human beings. It tells that a time comes when a person becomes selfish and mad and starts ignoring everyone and feeds only his NAFS. The writer describes the reason for this whole situation is fulfilling the needs of Nafs and body with haram things, things that are earned by following the haram sources. Due to this nature of humans, the writer has given the resemblance of a bird known as Gidh. Gidh eats the dead mammals and doesn't attack its prey itself and a time comes when he starts vomiting and becomes crazy and cannot sort out what to do. It beautifully covers the Halal and Haram concept.
This book is not a straight forward read, you may have to read it more than one time to understand the different aspects it is telling deeply.
My favorite part is when she describes the character of the mother. Would love reading the part a hundred times.
