Vet your clients, don't take any that try to get you to lower your rates or that show other signs of disrespect. If you get a gut feeling, go with it. Try to arrange meetings in places where if you shout for help people will hear. Keep something on you that you can use as a last ditch weapon (a metal-barrelled pen or a body spray for example). Try to ensure you have a friend who knows where you're working and expects a call from you when the appointment is over.

Be prepared, be ready for it not to meet your expectations, be ready to put the work in, be ready for the stigma, and most of all BE SAFE. And good luck! X
