People might make fake accounts because they are insecure with themselves and jealous of the person they are pretending to be, yeah its far fetched but a lot of people are unhappy with themself and want to be a different person, its giving them attention for once
Well if that's the case they might as well change themselves instead of sitting behind a computer screen getting attention, because in fact the attention isn't even theirs, it's someone else's but they're basically cheating themselves and getting someone else's attention.
