Somebody needs to step in and put the tyrant Tim Heidecker in his place! He is ruining Gregg Turkington's vision and destroying the On Cinema brand! Will you be the hero that we need and show the remainder of Decker vs Dracula?! BTW, Adult Swim = 5 bags of popcorn

haha

Another fucking marathon? What happened to not doing anything special for Halloween? You do realize the constant abuse of these marathons every single little holiday is killing the block right? You take a maybe shit ratings night into a guaranteed shit ratings night.

Lol I love it when random anons want to tell me what's "killing the block." Guess what? Every marathon we've done has beaten almost every movie we've aired. They save us money, and they hold better ratings to boot. We are doing better than at any time since we've been back. Good enough that we can't afford to blow new episodes on a holiday night, and good enough that we can't afford experiments that might lose us ratings, either. If working on Toonami for about 14 years hasn't convinced you we know what we are doing, nothing will.

So how come Adult Swim mainly just play Fox shows from 8:00 PM - 12:00 AM? How come there is no original AS shows around that time slot like there used like Sea Lab 2021, Space Ghost, Harvey Birdman, Attorney at Law and Home Movies? A lot of people say that AS has become the Fox Animated Block.

It's always been that way. We aren't airing any more FOX shows relative to our originals than we ever have. The reason you won't see the shows you mentioned at 8pm is that they wouldn't hold an audience versus the competition at that time. Want more Adult Swim shows? Want Adult Swim to do well? That's what it takes.

Was Toonami part of the production committee for IGPX back in the day?

Of course. We produced it, I wrote a ton for it, I co-directed a lot of the voice work, I redid the audio in post. It's our show all the way through.

Do you remember if Dragonball Z's Perfect Cell Saga aired on Toonami during Summer 2001, more specifically if Krillin's Decision was aired back in August that year? Also, Was it Cartoon Network's version or the Kid's WB version of Toonami? (I've been looking it up trying to figure this out)

CN aired all of DBZ, not sure of the dates. I have no idea what shows ran on Kids' WB Toonami, sorry.

I am the manager for a student run radio station, and I have staff members involved with creating playlist content and managing our website. They are my peers, though, so I have a hard time being a "boss." Any advice to motivate them without coming on too strong?

I mean it's all about balance. Don't ride them or bug them, just make sure they are doing what the station needs. At the same time, make sure no one is taking advantage of your friendship. Generally, go easy.

What do you think it takes for an anime to be a mainstream hit in the US?

It takes accessibility, great art, relatable characters, a story that isn't overly confusing, and a combination of hype and genuine fan love.

Do you ever buy movies or TV or anime digital-only? I certainly prefer to have the physical media if it's available.

I do both, depending on the title.

Would you say its important for every single show on Toonami to trend on twitter? Not to downplay the word-of-mouth factor but creating hashtags to try and get more people to watch/tweet seems superfluous...

It all helps. That's a fact.

Are you any good at drawing?

I went to college for illustration for a year before I switched majors, I'm aight.

What comics or graphic novels from America would you like to see turned into an animated series or film?

Charles Burns' "Black Hole."

Why do bad things happen to me for no good reason?

This is a question I think everyone has asked themselves at one time or another, really. I think the answer depends on who you are. Some turn to religion to find meaning in existence, some turn to science, some turn away from all of that. My feeling is that bad things JUST HAPPEN and that good or bad, there isn't any "reason" behind it a lot of the time. Some people find that depressing or scary but I find the idea of an indifferent universe oddly comforting. If nothing ultimately matters, and we aren't rewarded for good behavior with good fortune, then the times you choose to be good are simply because you choose to be good. And the bad things that happen aren't a result of poor choices on your behalf or some cosmic/karmic debt, they are just things that happen. Same with the good things. I think the most important thing, and this is hard to do, is to try to live in the moment and appreciate everyone you love and what you have. You never know when it all might change and all you will have left is a memory. I'm sorry you're going through a hard time, but I hope and believe it will turn around for you. Good luck!

What shows are you watching currently?

Just finished Fear the Walking Dead (eh), looking forward to Fargo, The Walking Dead (zombies, gotta do it), and especially The Knick's new season. Also slowly making my way through Rectify, which is really really good. OH and Master Chef Jr which I watch with my family!

Does Mike Lazzo know just how much we love him for suggesting that Toonami April Fools comeback into rebirth?

Honestly he doesn't because when he goes online he sees dumb shit about how he 'hates anime.' It just utterly confuses him. But I'll pass along the kind words.

was wondering how it feels to be a big part in the creation of run the jewels. To see them blowing up and whenever they tell the story of how they met they mention you i think thats amazing. I would like to thank you for that!

Thanks for the kind words. To answer your question, it's been amazing. They are great dudes who worked very hard and deserve all of their success, and I'm very happy and grateful to have been a part of it. Those are my brothers and when they thrive I do too. Sometimes you get lucky and this is one of those times. It's always important to appreciate it when it comes.

What are your thoughts on Crunchyroll, who basically made money on fansubs they had no rights to. Do they deserve their current popularity bc of ease of use, etc or not?

The way they began notwithstanding, there's no question they've done a lot to make the lives of hardcore anime fans better. I think of it like this: We grow new fans, they service existing ones. Both have an important place in the US anime community.

You may want to just make me wait but I wanted to ask if the Toonami comic will still let us in on the story reasons for the change from TOM3 to TOM4 to TOM3.5 to TOM5, like I believe you originally said it would in some fashion.

Not entirely. The concept changed a bit upon execution.
