Can you think of any way that antimatter could be used in combat? I also heard that when matter and antimatter meet they cause some sort of explosion, is that true?
When matter comes into contact with antimatter, they annihilate each other and create a massive explosion. For scale, one gram of antimatter coming into contact with one gram of matter would create an explosion 3 times more powerful than the Hiroshima nuclear bomb.
However, it's unlikely that antimatter would be able to be used in combat. Making weapons or components out of antimatter would be pointless, as they'd explode almost instantly. There is a (theoretical) antimatter bomb, but antimatter takes a very, very long time to create. At the moment, we make it in particle accelerators like CERN, but at the current rate of production it would CERN 2 million years to make enough antimatter to cause an explosion comparable to a nuke.
