How much knowledge of energy manipulation is required to construct machines that use them? The UON doesn't seem to have any necromancers but were still able to very effectively weaponize the Necrotic. Was this the sort of technical knowledge what the Armatocer asked us for, or somethin more advanced

oh I guess that was something I forgot to address during the interrogation scene of Sur-Quro.
Interrogation of the Sub-Admiral and other UON prisoners show that the Necrotic or Entropic weaponry as they called them, are a relatively new technology in the last decade or so but they do not know the origin or the process of making their ammo.
The UON and Confederate Necrotic Weaponry doesn't run off a ship's reactor like the Armada's does but instead relies on ammo in the form of large necrotic crystals similar to those used inside Necrotic reactors contained in large canisters to protect against the necrotic "radiation". The weapons siphon and focus the raw necrotic energy before projecting them as blasts similar to the Flayers and Flensers.

What is the purpose of your existence?

Hell if I know.
To write stories about friendly undead I guess

Would it be possible for you to write up some flashbacks of Jadyk's earliest years(as a grub on his home planet) in the same way you gave flashbacks of The Old Necrotic Armada?I think that it would be neat to see our earliest manifestation.

I think I could manage that. Life on Kyn'tk was a pretty brutal affair

Could you state again what the history of the Netu's homeworlds is exactly? I remember the Armada fucked them up(I believe Akka-Tor ate their star as a parting "Fuck You"), and I believe that the old Alliance awarded them with barren planets, but I just want to be sure.

The Netu homeworlds were originally a system far removed from the Curou sector that the quest takes place in now. Netu civilization spread from their original world to three others in the system and proceeded to terraform them. Overtime they began to regard the whole system as their home, rather than the planet they evolved on, the terraformed worlds becoming near mirrors of the original.
Netu culture believed that a strong military was the key to friendly neighbors. Combined with their technological skill and bounty of resources in their system (and neighboring colonized systems) they were able to create an obscene amount of ships, leading them to having one of the largest space fleets of the era.
For a long time they were isolationists, a history of warring between themselves then with various human, vorh, and other factions causing them to regard non-netu factions as dangers to be avoided or kept at a distance.
When the Necrotic War broke out they remained uninvolved for quite some time, only working to fight back undead incursions into their held systems with relative ease due to their fleets. This led to them increasing their isolation as they fortified their systems to weather out the war.
Eventually the Wasps, one of the few friendly allies of the Netu, approached the Netu alongside their new Crystalline partners and managed to convince them to lend their strength to the struggling Alliance of Planets.
Finally convinced they leapt into the fray, their forces ending up becoming the backbone of most Alliance fleets. Without the Netu joining the war-effort it's estimated the Necrotic War would have dragged on for decades or even centuries longer.
After Jadyk's defeat by the Crystal Wasps, Akka-Tor the Lightdrinker descended on the now relatively lightly guarded home system of the Netu with her Wraith hordes. There they devoured the life essence of nearly every living being, including the microorganisms in the soil.
With their homeworlds rendered lifeless, the majority of their race now existed solely in their ships and various offworld colonies. Colonies that were also assaulted by Grand Necrotic Armada forces and eliminated or driven offworld.
In the aftermath of the Necrotic War the Netu approached the Alliance and demanded reparations for their lost worlds or aid in gaining revenge for its loss. The leaders of the Alliance were less than willing to give up valuable worlds in the aftermath of the wars devastation and lingering prejudice against the Netu led to them being given worlds rendered barren or blighted by Necrotic energies.
This in turn led to many Netu turning on their former allies and withdrawing their ships from the Alliance fleets. Often these partings would not be peaceful as the commanders of the Alliance military did not want to lose the valuable and powerful Netu ships.
This of course led to the Netu forming the Pirate Clans and picking up a nomadic lifestyle they continue to this day

Back in the good old days of the Armada, was Jaydk ever been in the presense of the Black Flame, or was the closest he ever reached the Black Flame been his kinship with Ghul

Essentially yes. It was quite rare for the members of the Undying Court to interact with each others servants.
While the Wormstar and Black Flame were what could be considered allies only their champions interacted in joint campaigns.
Both Jadyk and Ghul respected each others power and came to something of a professional respect for each other during their time during the Necrotic War although it would be a far-cry from actual friendship despite their shared trust.

If necrotic energies are directly linked to entropy, and seem to cause withering death in all their other applications, how is it that David has been growing like crazy instead of being stunted? Did our seal protect him from necrotic influence or gift it to him?

Jadyk believes that his seal did help David endure the then densely ambient Necrotic energy he was exposed to until the energy sponge technology was perfected he is still uncertain of the totality of David's situation.
While I can't answer all of David's..."unique" circumstances I can point out a few other cases where Necrotic energy has enriched the health of other living beings.
Red-Leaf-Strains has had the Necrotic potential all her life. Osogo have known that individuals with the rare trait of red fur such as hers is tied to sickness and childhood deaths but certain individuals can survive this sickness to adulthood. This sickness she suffered as a growing osogo and her red coloration is what lead to her namesake. Since becoming a Necromancer she claims to have become stronger and healthier than she ever was before.
The albino Sapling and the stunted Cacti Necromancers also suffered from lifelong sicknesses and frailty that have been quickly turned around due to their Necrotic potential being realized and unlocked. In particular the Sapling has become particularly invigorated, the change in them startling many of the other Armatocere in Iti'a'Ropku and the Floral Quarter due to the strangeness that an Armatocere can flourish when exposed to the Necrotic and their former sickly self.
The rogue Necromancer Martin Graim who found the Plaguedrinker ship and released the Blight Hunger upon the Refuge system also hinted at a life of sickness and malnutrition before finding the Immortal and having their potential realized. Claims that have been partially backed up as the Think Tanks studied his physiology during his time in the med-pods and detected evidence of his words.
In short, Jadyk is convinced that David will grow to become a Necromancer but he is uncertain of what else may develop as he ages. Currently he is letting his parents continue to raise him, knowing they would do a better job than if he took the child for himself.

Recently binge read DATS and HQQ in preparation for new threads in the new year. There are still so many small questions lingering across both quests. Of interest to me, is the origin of the Think Tanks. Were they invented by the Wormstar or one of Jadyks creations?

It's been a while since I reread the thread they were introduced but originally they were a creation of the Necrolytes, which is a sweeping term for the living worshipers of the Undying Court specifically the Wormstar.
The original Think Tanks did not have near the same amount of "personality" that the current generations do, being mere tools to extend the reach and influence of Necromancers and Undead. The modern Think Tanks have much more individuality and are among the first of the Reconstructed to develop the "quirk" of personality that is currently being studied in the others although with them it was intentional on Jadyk's part.
Ruscuv has yet to bring it up but she believes Jadyk gave them their individuality and fledgling personalities due to feeling lonely after his freedom, a loneliness he's filled with the worship (and friendship) of the Living and his Generals.

We still know so little, doubly because of the scarcity of subject matter and opportunities to learn more, but how much does Jadyk, or even Ruskov actually remember about the Crystaline Minds and the Wasps who entombed him? Have we exhausted all our current leads on them?

Jadyk's memories are hazy from before his death and resurrection in the Tomb. From what little he remembers the Wasps and the Crystalline Mindes seemed to join the Necrotic War about half-way through the conflict after their territory was invaded, quite literally kicking the hornets nest.
Ruscuv has not spoken much about them but what little Jadyk has gleaned from her on the subject is she respected their power and is glad they appear gone.
Beyond finding another Crystal outpost to investigate like the one found on the scorched world or the binary worlds with the suspended ocean between them there are very few confirmed Crystal or Wasp outposts known.
There is a certain former Wasp trapped within a volcano that could be pressed for more information of them of course.

What species was Ruscuv before serving the Wormstar?

Believe it or not, Ruscuv was actually a human before her Reconstruction. Her initial form was very similar to a Talon or Immortals being a humanoid Reconstructed. Once she realized she had a talent for Reconstruction she started to mimic Jadyk's habit of constantly changing and upgrading her body. In time she settled on her current form as an all-purpose body that can be expressive when conversing with others, isn't too big so as not to fit in her own spaceships, and is very combat capable. She would "swap" out as the situation called like if she was needed on an oceanic or atmospheric world, sometimes even pulling a Transformers and effectively Reconstructing herself into a strikecraft type creation.

Do Osijic and Netu reproduce at all outside of their own indigenous societies? Is the concept of settling down and starting a family (or alien equivalent thereof) just that foreign to them? Sounds like the Netu in particular are entirely dependent on Clanships for the continuation of their species.

Oh definitely. Worlds in the Confederacy and the UON have facilities for netu citizens available wanting to have children and start a family. This is not a decision most take lightly since culturally it's been ingrained to be mindful of every member of the population in a migrant flotilla.
There are communities that are more liberal with their population constraints if they are settled on a world that can easily support their numbers allowing them a larger generation of children.
Independent Osjiic, which are relatively rare but do exist, will normally stick to groups of like-minded osjiic. Typically this includes groups such as mercenary bands, independent pirates, and muscle for cartels. For a female osjiic to decide to become pregnant they typically weigh whether or not they can take the time to let their guard down in the later parts of the pregnancy although they will rely on the protection of their unofficial family. It varies whether or not the parents shows an interest in the child ranging from helping train them in life skills while they are young to never even acknowledging the child as related to them while they are raised communally. This is mostly due to Osjiic culture putting very little weight in familial ties.

How do societies reliant on artificial births (Osijic, Netu) raise their young? Do the Netu even bother procreating the old fashioned way at all, and how close do they usually get to their blood relatives?

For the Osjiic they typically have something akin to a boot camp/boarding school they are raised in while they're younger. There is very little, if any importance placed on parentage and blood relations for the Osjiic. The only family they have is their squad and Empire. For Osjiic that are no longer apart of the Empire they are able to reproduce mostly naturally, most parents needing medical aid to assist in the birth because of the strain.
They nearly all find romantic attachments a strange behavior of the other races, evolving to see the good of the "Tribe" over ones attachment to an individual. For a portion of Osjiic history it was common for only the leaders and heroes of their race to have a name, only taking one after they had proven themselves. This is no longer the case, every Osjiic soldier given or choosing a name as long as they are not destined to become a Voidsinger or Deathshead Guardian, for whom the tradition still exists.
The Netu young are commonly raised either on the largest of Clanships or on worlds like Myrshyn where the Clans are able to live in relative peace. The Netu don't have the ability to reproduce naturally, their bodies genetically modified over the centuries to do away with extraneous stuff like that. This isn't to say that romantic feelings are foreign to them, they do bond typically in pairs or close-knit groups but all Netu contribute their genetic data to the Clans when it is time for the next generation. Netu on board a warship or a raiding vessel will typically deposit their genetic data each time they make dock at a Clan world or with an advanced enough Clanship just in case they do not return.
