What exactly is the heat death of the universe and where can I find out more?
The 'heat-death' of the universe is when the universe has reached a state of maximum entropy. This happens when all available energy (such as from a hot source) has moved to places of less energy (such as a colder source). Once this has happened, no more work can be extracted from the universe. Since heat ceases to flow, no more work can be acquired from heat transfer. This same kind of equilibrium state will also happen with all other forms of energy (mechanical, electrical, etc.). Since no more work can be extracted from the universe at that point, it is effectively dead, especially for the purposes of humankind.
Now lets think what this means for the universe. Any reaction that takes place will either result in the products becoming less ordered, or heat being given off. This means at some time far in the future, when all the possible reactions have taken place, all that will be left is heat (electromagnetic radiation) and fundamental particles. No reactions will be possible, because the universe will have reached its maximum entropy. The only reactions that can take place will result in a decrease of entropy, which is not possible, so in effect the universe will have died

The human body evolved over hundreds of thousands of years so you can sit at a desk in a sterile cubicle and look at fake lights in a box and pretend you don’t want to kill yourself and if you can’t focus on doing that for 8 hours a day 5 days a week that’s a mental disorder

Mein Eindruck ist, dass wir uns als Gesellschaft nicht oft genug bewusst machen, dass hinter all den Zahlen Schicksale, Menschen stehen. Ihr Leiden und sterben sind in der Öffentlichkeit oft unsichtbar geblieben. Eine Gesellschaft die dieses Leid verdrängt wird als Ganzes schaden nehmen.

What is something you think about a lot?
I’ve been thinking, the vital distinguishing feature about our species is that we can reflect on the past, we can think about the future and recognize that we‘re not going to be here in the future. The awareness of our own mortality is one of the driving factors in what we do. Seeing this notion in a cosmological setting it’s not just us that are going to die but every structure in the universe is going to disintegrate in time. Even protons, the very heart of matter, their Quantum processes will fall apart into their constituent particles. So it’s hard to imagine that there is going to be any life for any mind or any astronomical structure out there in the universe.
