What is the most expensive personal care product you are willing to buy? Do you think it's worth it?

It's a $10.00 shampoo that's used to maintain my highlights. I know $10.00 isn't a ton of money, but for me it is, for shampoo, when I usually buy Suave or something like that for $1.50. Yes, it's worth it. *flips hair*

My partner thinks that people with physically abusive spouses that are bigger and stronger than them should be legally given stun guns instead of ending their marriages. I LOL'd. What do you think?

No, the bigger/stronger person would just wrestle the stun gun away from the smaller person. Like real guns. Then they'd use it on them too. Best thing to do in an abusive relationship is get out. Asap.

Do MRA's seriously think anyone is going to be able to take them seriously with all the violent & sexist articles they put out? Yes it gets people's attention, but not what you'd be looking for if you wanted to be seen as anything other than women-hating, no?

They take *each other* seriously, if you're talking about AVFM. That is such a hate-filled group....every now and then I'll take a peek at it, and there are real, true issues they could be working on. But do they? Nah. They just like to moan to one another on the internet and call women nasty names online.
But, to be fair, the movement is in it's early stages. As of now, those men are much braver online than they are in real life. Only 150 showed up at that conference in Detroit, which shows that they are not even willing to get out of their houses and actually do things that force their issues forward. This movement does have legitimate issues...I just don't see the sense in typing in hate-filled rants rather than actually doing something productive to get things done. So to answer your question, yes, if a person views AVFM long enough, it won't seem much more than women-hating. For now, anyway. Let's hope they find a way to be positive and productive.

Man buys all apple pies at Burger King so bratty kid can't have one. Jerk or genius? http://consumerist.com/2014/08/06/jerk-or-genius-burger-king-customers-buys-23-apple-pies-just-so-loudmouthed-kid-cant-get-one/

Hmm....somewhere in between. It's certainly funny, if true, but that kind of parent would speed to the nearest Dairy Queen or McDonald's or Dunkin' Donuts to make sure the little prince had his sweets. That kind of parent wouldn't recognize the gesture for what it is, I don't think...which is a criticism of their child's bad behavior and her own part in it.
It would be awesome if the man who bought the 23 apple pies distributed them to homeless people, making the gesture even more meaningful. :)

Okay, honesty time y'all. Have you ever done anything misandric and/or misogynistic in your lifetime? This doesn't mean you're a misogynist or a misandrist, because we all make mistakes. But have you and what was it? (this is for research purposes only and won't be used against you). Thanks! :)

haha Trying to get us to admit to our biases, eh? "for research purposes". lol
Well....I never ask women for directions when I'm lost. I choose a man to ask. I admit I've tried, and experimented with asking women for directions which include route numbers and highways, exits, and even "North, South, East, West" and many to most don't know. Does that make me misogynistic? ;)
For guys...I remember my parents hiring a teenage boy to babysit us when I was around 8-9. I was scared out of my mind. I had a notion he would be violent, or make me take my clothes off, or something. (see? School programming at work). Turns out once he lured me out of the closet where I was hiding, we all had a nice evening playing cards. *shrug*

You know the cat I lost a month ago today? Yeah, he showed up on my doorstep today. This is the best belated birthday present EVER! Have you ever had a pet go missing, only to show up at your door weeks later?

Oh, I am so, so, so happy for you, Serena!! Like a dream come true. :)
I've had a cat disappear, but never show back up. I would be so ecstatic, I wouldn't put him down for like a week if he sauntered in. Congratulations! =^..^=

Have any of you named your laptops, notebooks, phones, etc? If so, what are their names? Is there a story behind the names? Bonus Question: Do you have names for your vehicles? Names and why? Thanks! :)

Wow, I've never admitted this before....but yes..."Myrtle." As in rhymes-with-turtle. As in goes very, very slow. I've come close to taking a hammer to Myrtle the Turtle before. :)
Hi Thomas! *waves*

In your experience, how much have you been insulted, shamed or treated with hostility by 3rd wave feminists both online and offline? On average, what type of shaming tactic(s)did they use against you? I don't expect you to remember an exact number, but maybe a guesstimate? (this is for research).

ThomasGWS’s Profile PhotoThomas
Back in the good GS days, I was sent some messages from 3rd wave feminists, telling me that I shouldn't talk to certain other GSers who were considered anti-feminists/MRAs/misogynists. One told me I pandered to them, and gave women a bad name for being friendly to them, and joking around with them. This is hard without naming names....grrr..okay, it was mostly ____...she would send me hostile messages when she saw me answering an MRA or a misogynist's question light-heartedly, or with a joke. Tried to shame me into being uber-serious, but really....GS used to be fun, and I'm no where near a 3rd wave feminist. For someone like her, Gender Studies was and is a very serious and deeply-felt issue...but for me, I was just there to have some fun and hear what others had to say. None of her insults or hostility could *make* me embrace it to the extent that it means to her. We just have different views on it, and that should be okay.

(On the Ebola outbreak/could apply to anything though!) 'why is it always the "west" that has to step in? There are plenty of other economically solid countries that aren't western. Time they step up to the plate. I'm talkin' bout you China and Japan'- Thoughts on that comment?

If we think about "First World Countries", "Second World Countries" and "Third World Countries" rather than the "West"...it might help to clarify this a bit, I think.
Countries are classified in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd world countries due to politics, economics, and culture. So really, the only First World countries are the US, UK, and our allies like Canada, for instance....so we are in a position to help. (and also some countries are just plain neutral and have no desire to get involved even though they have the resources). Not saying we should be the world's babysitter or police, but we do have advantages and knowledge we have a moral obligation to share with those less fortunate. If they don't want to use it, it's up to them.
As far as China and Japan, those are considered Second World Countries...those that have lots of potential...money, growth, some political clout, military strength. But they have vast pockets of their own countries that are Third World in nature. Where their own people don't have the basics of clean water, food, adequate shelter. Yes, they should be pitching in with the "West"...not sure why they don't. Maybe it's because they don't consider us allies, or if they would rather keep their resources within their own countries, or if they don't care.
*Not* getting involved in helping with the catastrophes of Third World Countries, when you think about it, puts them in a position of power, where our finances are fixing whatever issues pop up, and they are hoarding their resources. While the West becomes financially weaker, the East becomes financially stronger. I don't know if this is purposeful or not, but it is a cause-and-effect, certainly.

Does anyone else here have health anxiety? Did it come out of nowhere, or have you always had it? Thank you =^m^=!

Not sure if you mean generalized anxiety disorder (which I have) or hypochondria (which I don't). Anxiety disorders can be debilitating...I used to be doubled over on the floor crying before having to go to work. Arriving with face smeared with mascara is a scary thing for others, let alone me and my shaking hands. :(
I had a friend who didn't leave the house for 2 years due to anxiety; she was agoraphobic.
Sometimes it can come as a secondary part of depression, which would be the underlying cause. And there are family genetics at play sometimes too...it's just how our brain is wired. Some meds can help lesson the anxiety, some that you take every day and some that you take when having a panic attack due to anxiety. (short acting meds). But yes, sometimes it appears as if it's coming out of no-where, when in reality it was there all along at a low-level and something triggered it. *hugs* *hugs* *hugs*

Yeah, the dead ends are what kills me! The guy who cut my hair is insane...I'm never going back. In fact, I was thisclose to getting up with the hair cape on and walking out =^m^=! He made like three dick jokes while I was there, and he kept stopping to show me karate moves. No, I am not making this

Hahahahaha
I have no real come-back, but I think this story is hilarious...I am visualizing some insane man with sharp scissors in his hands showing you karate moves, with an er*ction. Did he look like this?
Yeah the dead ends are what kills me The guy who cut my hair is insaneIm never

I haven't had a haircut in over a year. Set up an appointment for next week. Now, I keep getting stopped by random strangers and getting hair compliments. WTF, should I fucking cut my hair or not?! I swear, no one has ever said anything about it before I decided to get it cut.

I say go for it and get it cut. Get all the dead ends off it, and lighten it up a bit for these hot days.
Don't forget to post a pic, mkay SexySerena? Then we can all admire you even more! =^..^=

(all friends) What do you do to cheer yourself up when you feel bad?

Read or sleep. And chocolates are a nice bonus.
BUT NOT HAGGIS! (no disrespect to your national dish cooked in a sheep's stomach *shudder*)

(select all friends) Why don't they make hello kitty bras and panties in adult sizes? I like hello kitty and need UK size 12 panties and have 34G bra size. Most things in my size are too frilly and not cute enough. Plus I sell used panties online and hello kitty would be liked *stamps foot* :(

I could be wrong, but if they sold Hello Kitty underwear (and I love it too) in women's sizes, it would seem to promote the sexualization of little girls. So pedophiles would be purchasing the used ones online and thinking of little girls when they do what they do with them. Ewwwww.
