Are your neighbors noisy ?

Fontaine
No, they’re quiet and good neighbours. They were so helpful & understanding over the repairs I had done on my house, partly from relief that I’m not like some of the shitheads who used to live here but mostly because they’re just good people.

Do you think I'm ugly?

No, I don’t think you’re ugly. I looked at your picture and you don’t look anything out of the ordinary, not a sex god but certainly not ugly either.
Sorry if someone told you that you’re ugly but no need to pay any heed to them?

Can you tell me some traditional British foods?

Fontaine
Steak & kidney pie/pudding
Apple crumble
Sunday roast (lamb)
These are the first that came into my head, anyway?

Bath or shower

handfree33
I prefer showers as I tend to get uncomfortable in a bath and it’s normally too hot or too cold. But I have about five baths a year, in midwinter.

Curry chip or gravy chip

handfree33
Gravy my me. Curry, or cheese (even cheese & curry together; some actually think this is a good idea), are just messing with food. Whereas the gravy & the chips work together towards a shared goal.

★ do you think ready salted crisps are pretty boring? i prefer salt & vineger. ★

crybxbyxo’s Profile Photo★ GᗩYᒪIEᑎ. ★
I only like plain crisps and sea salt & black pepper.
I know this puts me in a minority but I can’t bear salt & vinegar, cheese & onion or prawn cocktail, all of which get on my nerves.
I don’t eat crisps often (am more a peanuts man) so never get bored of what I eat.

You mentioned that you have read some of Graham Greene's travel books, could I ask which those are?

StephenInd’s Profile PhotoStephen Ind
The books I mentioned are:
Journey Without Maps (Liberia)
The Lawless Roads (Mexico)
Getting to Know the General (Panama).
They are all fine books, some of whose ideas were worked into fiction, so I’m looking forward to reading In Search of a Charachter, which is about Congo.

Are you enjoying "A Burnt Out Case" by Graham Greene?

StephenInd’s Profile PhotoStephen Ind
Yes, thank you!
I am going to read Graham Greene’s Congo journal next, as I enjoyed his other travel books and want to read his diary of life in Congo in the 1950s, when (apart from the climate) it was almost wholly unlike today.
Although I do less reading than I’d like to, this is a new voyage I’ll embark on next week.

What's everyone doing this Sunday? 🌈🍃

Christinewhat’s Profile PhotoChristine
I went cycling; cycled to the country park, did my volunteering in the woods there and cycled back. So it was a successful day for me, after which I read ( A Burnt Out Case by Graham Greene) and then ate a lamb pie and a lemon cake, & switched on Frozen Planet 2.

Do you think that England has good economy?

Fontaine
No, everything was already too expensive and incomes already too low before the government crashed the markets and brought us runaway inflation out of ideology.
They are literally worse than Thatcher, who at least got inflation under control (though at too high a price) and who didn’t cut taxes until nine years into her rule.
The absurd Truss/ Johnson double act will hopefully come to an end, and the stench of corruption cleaned out.

Are you doing anything tonight?

Alphabearry’s Profile PhotoJoel
After finishing work at 5:30 (working from home) I jogged, cooked kale soup to eat (with rye bread & then macarons) tomorrow, ate today’s dinner, & ironed, all while watching frozen planet 2.
Now I am not doing anything but will go to bed early as I’m tired from work & jogging.

Have anyone started their Christmas shopping yet 🎅🎅🎅

views1261282’s Profile Photoviews1261282
I’ve printed my 2023 calendar and a photobook of my niece, along with some things that I’ll give as gifts.
I never do Christmas shopping as in scrambling round shops panicking, buying things that aren’t wanted or needed, as I don’t think it does any good to me or the ‘beneficiary’.
But when I give my loved ones things they will use, they will be glad.
