As you are probably aware, a ‘lexicon’ is a collection of terminology from a specific area of work or knowledge, and this can sometimes form a way of speaking that is unintelligible to those outside the field. Do you have/ever use such a lexicon? If so what is it based around?

I fucking love stout.
It gets in the way of my fitness regime, but GK Chesterton drank stout and he would have died laughing at the idea of a fitness regime.
So I reckon I’ll get battered next Friday. I’m not meeting my girlfriend until June so it’s not like I’ve got any reason to stay sober?

I was with a group planting trees, and the leader invited us to sit in silence and meditate on the beauty of nature, the universe and so on.
But my enjoyment was marred by sitting on a nest of ants! They are fierce creatures! I wouldn’t want to make them explode, I’d just prefer them to stay away from my ass.

It doesn’t smell of anything to me, though perhaps there is a smell but my nose considers it normal and doesn’t notice it? I’m in the kitchen and people often say it smells like cooking (in a good way) but I can’t sense it now.

Have you ever been in a long-distance relationship?

Yes, I’m in one! It’s a bit harder since my girlfriend stopped living in the city and moved back in with her parents, but we’re going to meet as soon as we get vaccinated and when I buy my house, she will (though she declined my offer to live with me) be visiting!
