But when it was stolen the very day I got back, I had no phone for a week and that was much, much worse. Because in Glen Affric I was with friends and could do without the outside world. But here, if I want to meet my friends, family or girlfriend, I do need a phone for that.
I agree technology is overused but that comes from the mistake of treating it as a master rather than as a servant. If not used excessively it certainly has its uses and anyone who tried to do without one (in these days of scattering round) would find interactions with real people harder, not easier.

Inspired by recent news: do you know, or know of, anyone (including yourself!) who has lied on their C.V. (USA: resume) to get a job or to get into an institution? Were they ever found out, and if so what were the consequences?
It seems obligatory to do this in order to become a right-wing talking head or politician!
I've never lied or cheated myself because I'm not an Old Etonian or the recipent of funds from shadowy organisations, and the same goes for everyone I know.

What is the furthest place from home you've visited?
The place my brother used to live, that was quite remote!
Sadly I may never go there again as it's hugely expensive to pay for a flight and, while I stayed with my brother & didn't need a hotel last time I was there, I don't think I could afford a hotel as well as a flight!

⌨️ When was the last time you began to type something (e.g. a message to someone, or an Ask question etc) and then thought better of it and deleted it?
When I almost waded into an intergenerational argument and said what I think about (most, not all) boomers. What I would have said was true, but it would have been a mistake to say it as it would have pointlessly pissed people off and made them less receptive to the arguments.
