how do i make friends in college?
PSA: These answers will not guarantee success, just derived from my past experiences that I have endured while in college so far.
Most of the friends I have I made because they are either my roommates (I live in a dorm on campus) or from RSOs. An RSO is a registered student organizations, basically any student ran club on your local college campus. Your college usually will have a bunch of them and I HIGHLY recommend checking out which ones your college offers. I play video games so I joined the VGC on my campus which no longer exists this current semester but while it did I made sure to introduce myself or strike up a conversation with people who seemed to share my interests in particular video games.
Another thing I tend to do is scout out people in my classes for the current semester that seem approachable or mention something similar to what I enjoy during their introductions in the first week of school that every class has. Making friends in college doesn't need to happen in the first week, trust me you will make friends randomly and probably out of the blue so don't feel pressured! You don't need to have a bazillion friends in the first five days haha.
Also your college will hopefully have events year round for holidays, student clubs, etc. Check those out and just randomly butt in conversations. I won't lie to your I eavesdrop in conversations and I usually drop in a line when I feel as if it's relevant to the topic they are saying and everyone continues the topic or they'll ask for my name and introduce themselves.
