Hi :) To what cities are you going during your upcoming travels? And have you ever made friends from around the world who met you through your blog?

Montana, Texas, Peru... And yes, I have.

What do you have against guys who play video games? My brother is a great husband and father and he loves games. If his wife had made a list like yours she would have missed out on an amazing husband and father. High standards are one thing, unreasonable ones are another.

I meant, 'unreasonable' amounts of time playing video games... Glad your brother is such a great husband and father!

You retweeted song lyrics by Bridgette Colleen. It isn't your fault for not knowing they were song lyrics because she didn't properly credit the artist. The song writer is Ryan O'Neal. As an artist I'm sure you understand how awful it is to not give the proper credit to a writer.

Oh! Yeah, that was a RT. I totally know what you mean, though. Thanks for telling me who gets the credit for those beautiful words:)

You retweeted some song lyrics. I don't blame you if you didn't know, but it always annoys me with people spread lyrics around the internet without giving the proper credit. It is from the band Sleeping At Last and the song is Saturn. One of my favorites. All their songs are great.

which song lyrics? which tweet??

In your recent blog post about how to tell if a guy likes you, you mentioned that he shouldn't have preconceived ideas of a perfect woman, but isn't that what you're kind of doing?

No. There's a difference between 'having preconceived ideas of a perfect [person]' and having standards.

You have a list of things you don't like about men, but have you ever considered blogging about how you would match with a guy who had a similar list? How would you measure up to a guy with very high standards?

Ohhh good one!! A friend of mine was actually gonna write the 'other part' to the 54 reasons one, but I guess I could!

Part 4. Nothing we could do could convince her that it wasn't a spiritual battle that it was a physical one that needed medication. She killed herself. I found her. THAT is why I find your advice unwise and dangerous. You don't know what is going to happen when you give advice like that.

It feels like I'm just going around in circles about this so this will be my last post regarding self-harm. I am very sorry your sister suffered the way she did. I believe that God IS capable of helping someone STOP harming themselves but that doesn't mean we shouldn't take advantage of medication TOO.

Part 3 So she stopped medication because she became convinced it was a spiritual battle that needed to be fought with prayer. She beat herself up for not being a "good" Christian who was strong enough to depend on Jesus. She started a vicious cycle even worse self-hate.

P3

Part 2. They told her that God's grace was enough if she was in total surrender to Christ. They told her that God is her salvation and that He would save her. They told her that if she turned to self-harm she was letting Satan win.

P2

Raquel, since you posted the person who first asked this I hope you will post my story too. My sister suffered with self-harm. She was put on medication but then started asking Christians for help, they told her lots of things about turning away from the world and turning to Jesus. Part 1

P1

(part14)So Raquel, please know that your answer to me was anything but unwise advice! And to anyone who is bothered by your answer or is in disagreement… it helped me put down a blade.

Thank you so much. Oh praise God... sending lots of hugs your way!!

(part13). Raquel never said you could escape self-harm and depression just by “thinking about God”—I think she knows it’s so much more than that! It is turning AWAY from the world and running to our Savior in total surrender…Because our God is salvation; He is mighty to save.

exactly!!

(part12)Her answer made me remember who I was, what I was saved from, and that God’s love has covered my sin, mistakes, guilt—EVERYTHING—And He has already taken my punishment for me… I do not need to take it out on myself. YOU do not need to take it out on yourself.

praise God. amen

(part11). And that was where I was at when I asked her (you, Raquel) that question on ask, “what is a solution to self-harm?”

okay

(part10)and at that point we have a choice to turn to God for help or turn to ourselves. And there is nothing good in us. And at this point, in our fleshly-efforts to help ourselves and escape our pain, we will only dig deeper into our pit.

part 10

(part9)When we are saved, we are delivered out from the world and we now have the Spirit of God in us and at work in us. But if we start to think we can do things on our own and reject His Word and His Holy Spirit, we become vulnerable to “the worlds destruction”

yes

(part8)and that mental pain, with physical pain—which in some cases can feel better. But when one if self-harming they are not seeing themselves, or God, rightly. God has made us in HIS IMAGE… That should tell us all something.

agreed!

(part7)When Raquel gave me the answer to my question, “what is a solution to self-harm”, she basically said that God took the punishment so we don’t have to punish ourselves. I think in a lot of cases self harm is done because the victim feels they DESERVE it and need to replace that “knowledge” and

exactly

(part6)And that is, in this case—watching us as we physically abuse ourselves to escape the pain the world has caused and the lies and guilt that he (the devil) has told us and that, ultimately, we believed.

part 6

(part5) The world will “destroy” us by making us like them and trying to pull us away from God’s love. Satan wants us to believe his lies and when we do, he begins his work.

yes

(part4)by “The worlds destruction” I simply meant’ that a Christian falling into depression was really just falling back into the hands of the world instead of falling into the hands of The One (God) who delivered them from this originally!

I think this was supposed to be part 3...

(part 2) First I would like to say to whoever is being bothered by your answer to me, that I was the one who called it: “the worlds destruction,” and the reason for that is because we, if Believers and Followers of Christ, are called to be set apart from the world—We are to be different from them;

Yeah, I never called it that...and yes, I agree with you...

Hi Raquel. :) (This is the first person who asked you about the self-harm and depression and it’s going to take more than a few questions on your ask to say what I want to, so I will try to keep it organized, haha!) Part (1)

Hi:) okay...
