It's disgusting that so many people on here are using their religion as a way to justify their bigotry and small-mindedness. I'm a Christian, and not one of the fundamentalist, you'll-go-to-hell, self-righteous idiots represent what religion is. Sorry for the… miscommunication.
Personally, I believe morals come from your upbringing, not religion. I know plenty of people who are open-minded, accepting people who come from religious backgrounds, and I know people who are bigoted but don't have particularly religious backgrounds. So I don't understand how people can blame that bigotry on their beliefs. It doesn't promote what your faith supposedly promotes, and it doesn't make your church particularly appealing to join either. I agree it's disgusting. They should grow a pair and just admit they don't like it for whatever reason, rather than hiding behind a blanket of religion.
(Note faith and religion mean to different things to me. Religion being the mass interpretation of the Bible's teaching - often promoting specific ideas, and in my opinion, bigotries - and faith being belief in the Bible solely by your own interpretation.)
