What kind of upbringing causes a person to suppress their emotions?
Any that makes you feel that you should control your emotions. If you cry but get judgmental questions to get you to stop, or saying you should be happy than be sad. Etc. Basically any judgement based on emotions.
I was sensitive where I cried alot when I felt sad. Everyone made me feel bad that I cry, which caused me to never cry in front of anyone and keep my feelings to myself by bottling them up. Wasn't until I dated my husband who tried getting to express my emotions no matter what they are.

Working in a burger joint on a college campus. The management sucked, petty drama between coworkers, no one wanted to do their job so I had to, and working with the public is draining.

Why is it wrong to be "too nice or to be trying too hard with people? As I see it I'm just being nice and others give me a hard time for it??? I'm confused.
I think it's because either people think too nice leads to being naive and can be taken advantage of, or it might be fake with selfish intentions.
