Have you ever tried playing a different instrument? If yes, how good were you at it?

I play bass, drums and piano - all to varying degrees. I tried sax but I sucked at it.

This one is difficult, and you seem to have great knowledge about them. Just for a technical standpoint, for me gatton is superior to lane. Not obviusly en picking, but in hybrid or in the hability to play lots of differents types of musics wich such a mastery. And i absolutely love lane, what d ya think

You have every issue?! Dayum how I would love to raid them for some of the articles and lessons I missed out on. Baxter makes it worth the price alone, its crazy how much you can learn from just his introductions and theory.

100% - I'd love to sell them, but there are so damn many it's too much £££ and I can't be bothered to list them individually haha

You get along well with your sisters or brothers?( i don't know if you have brothers or sisters)

I have like 9 - I don't really see any of them.

Saw you answer on Shaun Baxter, that guy rules! I collected so many of his articles from Guitar Techniques. Why hasn't he done a book?! (to my knowledge).

I have every issue of guitar techniques - was a huge part of my development.
Shaun has his own school which he wrote all the courses for - they are immense.

Do you consider yourself succesful levi?

Yes, everyone is successful! If you have a roof over your head, you're succeeding.
From there it's all a scale isn't it? How successful you are.
I feed my family and pay the bills from what I've done in music and journalism - I'm eternally grateful that you guys allow me to do that!
So successful, but humble :)

Why you said that he is starting to undermine his own ?

his bullshit need to go out and try and convert people with belief... well done mate, you've single handedly made atheism a position of belief when it's fundamentally the opposite. Now everyone assumes we're as smug and brash as you...

What do you think about richard Dawkins ?

A very intelligent man who can't see that he's starting to undermine his own cause...

why do you avoid questions about religion or what your belife system is?

I don't? I'm an atheist, but I've learnt that you can't argue with blind faith so I don't bother. I hate atheists who feel the need to preach so won't be one of them.

You sir just made my point (thanks for the interesting debate btw :D) "there is only one scale" "those are two different things" if there is only one scale then how are there two different things?

Because I'm arguing under your parameters.
Lydian and harmonic minor are not the same. That's a fact.
If you are presented with a lick and it contains the notes A C D E and I say "what scale is this"
You could say:
Minor pentatonic
Blues scale
m11 arpeggio
Aeolian
Dorian
Harmonic minor
Phrygian
Melodic minor
Chromatic
They are ALL correct are they not?
I could play ANY of those scales and still play the melodic fragment A C D E.
Now you show me ANY melodic fragment that I can't play when playing the chromatic scale. Any sound in music that I can't play. Any colour. Any style.
Stop worrying about scales and start worrying about sounds!!!
You'll get it.

Thoughts on george marios levi?

A good friend and a VERY funny guy. Absolutely insane player, I've stolen a lot of his stuff.

That doesn't mean everything is one scale. That means you can apply knowledge to other scales. That's like saying a harmonic minor is the same as a Lydian. Yes, there are mutual notes, but the differentiation is what makes the scales, right? In a harmonic minor, you are not going to play b flat

That's not like saying harmonic minor is Lydian at all because they are two different things.
When you play the blues scale you are also playing minor pentatonic. When you are playing the Dorian scale you are also playing minor pentatonic. I can play Dorian and sound like minor pentatonic. Because I know to avoid the 6 and 9.
You can argue with it all you want. I did when one of my mentors said it.
3 or 4 years later I suddenly realised what he meant.
You disagreeing doesn't mean I'm wrong, it means you don't get it. I can't be wrong can I? I'm stating a fact, not an opinion. It's that progressive approach to education that people respond to and keeps me in work. ;)
