I made a crossbow in woodtech once... I put a lot of work into it and it could fire a dowel rod into the breezeblock wall...

True, but a crossbow does take longer to load and that effect of the higher tension could mean the bolt would break inside a body. Plus you loose one you have to buy or find another. With a regular arrow you can make them yourself. Usually the .44 would only be for handling bandits or something.

as long as you hit the brain it's cool, plus there's a shop in the city I live in that sells crossbow bolts so i'd just raid that.

Crossbow and katana? I'd take something that's a sure kill, a .44 revolver, but if it did come to it I'd take a regular bow and arrow rather than a crossbow. Though two katanas is a must for me.

i'm just going on the fact I know how to use a crossbow and I have good aim with one and it's quieter than a gun
