I feel you are wasting your time he may have a lot going on but that's no excuse to respond to someone. If he got in trouble and got his phone taken that would be understandable but still, he should explain that to you instead of leaving you second guessing.

Calm down, They might be busy. People do have lives some people work a lot some people are battling their minds and emotions.
If he's not texting back, then he's not free yet or he's doing what most guys do and dreading making up a date and plans and trying to sound smooth and be someone you'll fall for.
You can't assume his sexuality, he obviously wanted a date with you how can he be magically gay? Lol.
Wasting your time? texting or waiting for a text barely takes time just do what you want and wait til he answers and if he never does - then you know where you stand or you could send him a text.
"Hey, I was really interested in a date with you, I asked when you were free and you haven't answered me just please do when you get the chance :')"
