What do you think is holding the Kill la Kill dub back from being really good?

Better direction. Some of the casting isn't amazing, either, but it's mostly in need of better direction.

Would you rather be rich and famous or poor and happy?

Well, you didn't stipulate that if I were rich and famous I wouldn't be happy, so the former. I don't NEED to be rich and/or famous to be happy, but it would provide a good security net for me and my family.

What do you think of Lisa Ortiz as a voice actress?

It's really hard to tell, as I've hardly heard her in anime. The anime she's been in I've usually watched in Japanese or have no interest in. I mean, if you're going to subject yourself to Slayers, you have to watch it with Megumi Hayashibara at the very least.

If you could choose a special talent, what would you pick?

Anything more useful than the shit I'm talented at. Which at last count includes everything.

How did you come up with your username?

Well, for this ask.fm account, I used the name of the fictional (for now) nation I'm the founder of in my OR: Side Story comic strips (and by extension, my OE videos), the Penguin Union Nation. I would have used "penguintruth", but some asshole took that name and started impersonating me. What a jerk.

What do you think of Allison Keith-Shipp as Misato?

Ah, you'll find out in the next episode of Otaku Evolution, when I review Megazone 23, in which she plays the female lead.

Spike Spencer is perfect as Shinji. Shinji is a tortured, confused troubled boy with pretty much depression to boot. Just like Sean Schemmel as Goku, just because a voice sounds good to the Japanese doesn't mean it will sound good in English.

Are you fucking kidding me? Spike Spencer's Shinji doesn't sound like a tortured, troubled boy, he sounds like a garish, one-dimensional cartoon coward with an over-the-top stereotypical coward voice. He's about as subtle as Paul Lynde was.

Come on dude, lighten up and have some fun sometimes. Life isn't supposed to be taken so seriously.

Need I remind you I do an anime review show wherein I'm a modified video game sprite that lives in a giant penguin? Do I come across as somebody who takes things too seriously?

You know some well known Anime people on Twitter are into the Oscars. Are you calling them wastes of time?

They're certainly putting way too much stock to the overindulgent red carpet pageantry and tedious speech-giving "attaboy" celebrity worship of award shows. I like movies. I like when movies I like are celebrated. But we don't need a whole big, televised circle-jerk over it. Award shows are one giant bukkake buffet.

Will you watch the Oscars?

Award shows and the people who love them are huge wastes of time. They should just quickly announce the award winners and send out the awards to the winners. No need for a big fucking self-congratulatory masturbation fest party for all the super rich. I appreciate entertainment, but this cultural obsession with award shows is abominable. Take the money for that and spend it on endangered penguins.

Why did you criticize Funimation for giving the voice actors multiple roles in the DBZ/Kai dubs when the Japanese version did the same thing? Masako Nozawa played every incarnation of Goku in addition to his sons and father

Eh... yeah, that's a tad hypocritical, I guess, but with Goku and his family, there's kind of a running theme going that allows them to be voiced by the same person. Personally, though, I'd have preferred if Bardock sounded like Raditz, since he was much more like him. Hey, maybe if they ever animate Gine, she'll sound like Shigeru Chiba. Wouldn't that be something? But fortunately, Sabat's Vegeta and Piccolo are distinct enough now for it not to bother me anymore.

Not really a personal question but in the last episode of Death Note I never got why Mikami suddenly started bleeding like a sprinkler. Did he stab himself? Did Light write something on his Death Note clipping? I most likely missed something.

In the manga Mikami just despairs that Light is writhing around on the ground like a little bitch and does nothing. But I guess that wasn't action-packed enough for Madhouse, so they had Mikami stab himself to death so Light would have a window to escape. Or maybe he just killed himself because the jig was up. He stabbed himself with the pen he was using for his Death Note. Guy had some high blood pressure.

How many times do you hit the snooze button before getting up?

I don't use an alarm. I sleep when I'm tired/sleepy. I get up when I'm up.

Do you ever rip off all of your clothes, paint your whole body green, and pretend that you an alcoholic turtle named Nipples who curses and turtle slaps THE FUCK out of wankers?

N-not recently, no...

Did you know, that male Emperor Penguins keep their eggs warm by balancing them on their feet?

Yes, I do know that. Do you know that penguins have a filter under their eyes that desalinizes ocean water?

I assume you love March of the Penguins and Happy Feet?

I do own a copy of each, but honestly I've only watched Happy Feet once. And as much as I love March of the Penguins, I want to see penguin documentaries that aren't all or mostly Emperor Penguins. There are so many other kinds. Adélie Penguins, for instance. Or the rarer Erect-crested Penguin.

What kind of music do you listen to?

These days it's mostly the popular 1980s and early 90s music I grew up listening to, from rock to new wave. But I also listen to a fair amount of classical orchestral stuff.

Salty snacks or sugar snacks (if either)?

Probably sugary, sweet snacks above all else, but I do like some salty snacks.
