I find it very sad when someone creates a predominantly negative view about "the world", or "humanity" as a whole from the negative influences, as those only tell part of a full story.

I wouldn't say that for everyone, positive things "outweigh" negative ones, nor the opposite, because the world itself, as a conceptual entity, is often unfair and volatile, but much like how the world around us exerts a great force on us, we can exert an equally great force on our world, which is essentially that which we base our views on, as we cannot view "the world" as a whole rather than in our selfmade reality.

A naive optimism about the world and people is just as unhealthy as a cynically negative view, affairs are neither universally good, nor is everything tainted black beyond salvation. People are complex, yet also very simple once you boil it down to the essential idea of "just many singular individuals trying to live in their way", the realisation of which, if you grasp the sentiment not just as a rational thought but deep down to your bones, opens up your mind to take a much more healthy approach to everything, breaking up some preconceived notions of black and white in certain aspects of the world.

So, I guess the fact that earth is inhabited by humans, all of whom are at least capable of trains of thought similar to this one, is an optimistic hope, if not an assured guarantee that there is potential for growth, and that more importantly we are not on a downward slope, and have never been, as plenty of people want to make it out to be.

Paranormal Activity, REC und Blair Witch sind unglaublich simpel aber so effizient, weil sie so real wirken. In der Realität kommt kein ausgeklügeltes CGI Monster um die Ecke und schiebt dir nen Tentakel rein, sowas wie die Geschehnisse in Paranormal Activity sind da viel, viel schlimmer. Irgendwelche Jumpscare reliant Kacke kann ich mir zum Spaß dauernd ansehen, aber bei PA 1 und 2 läuft auch mir ein Schauer über den Rücken und ich kriege wahnsinnige Paranoia, weil das einfache Mittel und banale Phänomene benutzt, die aber mit einem tiefen psychologischen Horror unterstützt.

Wenn bei einem selbst in der Wohnung plötzlich die Schränke Party machen, oder man einfach vom Bett gezogen wird an den Füßen von einem unsichtbaren nichts, würde man auch gefühlt 27 Herzinfarkte kriegen, und das ist etwas, das man viel eher glaubt, dass es einem widerfahren könnte, als ein Cthulhu-Abklatsch, der im Wandschrank buh sagt.

Apropos Cthulhu, cosmic horror hat zwar auch seine Daseinsberechtigung, aber das ist auf einem ganz ganz anderen Level und nicht wirklich "scary", dass einem der Arsch auf Grundeis geht bei den Ideen, schließlich ist das Konzept dahinter ja, dass es Dinge sind, die über unseren Verständnishorizont weit hinausgehen. Und wir könnten niemals begreifen, wie sehr wir uns vor diesen Dingen fürchten müssen, wenn wir sie nicht ansatzweise begreifen können.
