Is there a sympathetic way to write pranksters (the sort of people like Weasley twins) without making them bullies? I want to write a likeable prankster who uses the pranks as a way to relieve tension and cheer people up, but I know pranks are generally pretty cruel or inconsiderate.
I'd say it comes down to the pranksters knowing what their intended target/s will be able to laugh along with and knowing which lines they should not cross - and if they ever do accidentally cross a line, apologize for it. Also, they should absolutely avoid harming the target/s, or anything that the target/s genuinely care about.
It might also help to think in terms of what might make a funny gag or joke? For example, enchanting a stuffed animal to say silly things could be funny; enchanting the stuffed animal to explode when hugged would be pointlessly cruel.
I hope that helps!
