What is the best genuine advice I can give to one of my friends who is feeling very overwhelmed?

Well, if they are looking for physical coping strategies, they can journal, do breathing exercises, draw, meditate, exercise, etc.
If they want a non-physical strategy, the best advice is to put things into perspective. It's unlikely that they're always overwhelmed; there are surely moments where they are not. The difference between these moments is their internal dialogue, most likely. Yes, there may be external stressors, but one can become almost immune to them as long as they know how to mentally calm themselves down. This can best be done through looking into cognitive distortions, identifying which ones they are utilizing, and modifying them. One example of common cognitive distortions are "black and white" thoughts, such as "Everything is terrible" and "I'll never feel better." Instead they could think "While some things may be bad at the moment, they'll get better eventually, and so will I (and that starts with changing what I tell myself)." I'm not sure exactly what your friend is overwhelmed about (school? work? home? mental health?), but cognitive distortions permeate through everything, so the situation itself doesn't matter as much. I think it's definitely possible to be okay no matter what is happening. And remember, a lot of the time the body follows the mind, and vice versa (so if someone is mentally unwell then it can become physical, or if they are physically unwell then it can become mental, unless they keep that in check).
Anyway, hope this helped in the slightest?

do you post your writing online? i'm interested in it

Yes, but I don't know if you'd actually want to read it lol. I'll give an explanation of it:
Here's the plot of the book I'm writing so you can get an idea: Shenzo, a male in his twenties, is a disturbed individual who sublimates his childhood trauma by indulging in horrific crimes and struggling with forbidden desires. His stalkerish psychologist coworker, Sho, is willing to keep any secret if it means Shenzo will fall for him. As Shenzo becomes obsessed with depravity and making a cannibalistic criminal out of Sho, it appears he is not as ruthless as he seems.
I like to mix crime and erotica while placing an emphasis on the human psyche. The book is initially written rather simply with some complex words and occasional metaphors, but I'm trying to mimic mental illness with it, so it becomes more metaphorical and incomprehensible over time. I read something saying that schizophrenics look THROUGH words, whereas non-schizophrenics look AT them. This means that I'm (as a schizophrenic person) not really bothered by words I don't understand. The point isn't for the reader to understand, I just want them to appreciate the sound of the sentences and for them to be sort of musical.
Here's a text sample from a recent chapter (at this point it is quite incomprehensible): "A mezzanine approximated, beryl vision encrusting mystery meat. He appeared brassed, reference point a facetiae. Asbestos of artistry etiolated me, asceticism defoliated, defalcation of dubiety discomposing my decomposing stature. As I soldered to the armature, a hanged tempera painting, tempura salaamed and slalomed salami propriety."
Because it's very metaphorical, it doesn't help anyone to look up words in a dictionary, since dictionaries are literal. I have entire chapters transcribed into normal English, to explain the metaphors and such.
The dialogue is relatively normal, like moments of clarity among confusion.
I put some personal experiences into my writing, and pretty much all characters (apart from minor ones) are based off of me in one way or another (some more so than others).
So yeah... the first 3 chapters have been posted online and the rest of the ones I've written are on documents. The first chapters aren't very good but, you know, I was 14 when I started writing the book lol. I've written other stories but they're not to the best of my abilities. If you're still interested after reading all this then I can post the link (preferably privately but whatever). I also find it rude when someone asks to read it but doesn't discuss it with me so please don't do that. :/ Thanks.

What kind of position do you tend to sleep in? There any specific reason/s to why you choose to sleep that way? 😴🛏

I usually sleep on my right side, but sometimes the left feels better. Sleeping on my back hurts my back (weird because I read it's actually supposed to help with back pain?) and sleeping on my stomach is painful for my pelvis and breasts. :/
