Will fault get another song for the series instead of Modus Operandi? I get that making a song is hard, and considering how the series is, it's kind of impractical. Having an opening theme for a direct continuation doesn't make much sense. I'm still curious though, StP feels like it might have one.

We're looking into this. I'm rather more curious as to why you want a new song enough to drop us a line though, is a vocal track that important to you? I'm genuinely curious.
If anything StP will have an ending theme since I have a pretty clear vision of how it should go. And if someone can bust out an awesome ending theme then chances are I'll beg them to do an opening theme.
All this has to be balanced with schedule, budget and sanity. We'll see how things go but this is one thing you're probably safe to feel optimistic about.

When can we expect to get a fault anime? We're totally going to get one, right?

It would be lovely wouldn't it? Not sure how we can make it happen though. Maybe if we sell 20,30,40 thousand more copies of both milestones, someone that has the power to do something about it might notice, but I'm not sure how much weight and clout Steam sales have here in Japan.

What's the biggest piece of advice you would give to an aspiring writer?

First off... I'm honored by you asking me this question but you should note that I'm not at a level where I can give competent advice. Nowhere near. Writing is mostly personal preference too, which makes this extremely difficult to answer. I can tell you what's been working for me so far though, but remember that my "so far" isn't very far at all. You're probably not gonna like some of these answers.
・I looked around me to see what everyone else was making and made something that was not that which were 99.9% love stories or romance driven plots about high school kids or middle school kids or elementary school kids or pre-kindergarden kids or whatever. Just kids being in love. No.
・I stopped watching most animes because a lot of them are genuinely garbage in terms of being able to learn anything from it.
・I tried to incorporate writing and presenting styles that aren't typical of the medium.
・I did a lot of reading and practicing about the timing of building a story up and dropping the punchline.
The 4th one is probably the most important one. It sounds dishearteningly simple (although executing it well is pretty hard) but the essence of storytelling is executing 1 long ass joke while holding the audiences attention until the correctly timed punchline. That punch line can be a yank at the heartstrings, a go for the laugh, a jab in the gut for repulsion, whatever. Does your audience feel like shit at the 70% mark of the story? Now's your chance to do something unexpectedly... sadder. And then give some hope. then kill someone anyway. Is your audience happy? Oh you should definately kill some one now, they'll get bored in 3 minutes. Dead. Oh wait! they weren't dead!? Oh wait, they were dead but that's another version of themselves from another multiverse? Oh wait, the whole thing was just a massive acid trip? Oh wait, my computer just broke? BUT IM READING A INK ON DEAD TREES BOOK HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE!? Once you get this down, the rest is just cat and mouse with the audience while being to cram enough stuff you find interesting without going insane hey there's a root growing from my fingers or is that a vein i think the seeds are now sown they are watching they are watching they are watching they are watching they are watching they are watching they are watching they are watching they are watching they are watching they are watching they are watching they are watching they are watching they are watching they are watching they are watching they are watching they are watching they are watching they are watching they are watching they are watching they are watching they are watching they are watching they are watching they are watching they are watching they are watching they are watching they are watching they are watching they are watching they are watching they are watching they are watching they are watching they are watching they are watching they are watching they are watching they are watching they are watching they are watching .

Greatest life lesson?

I'm still trying to figure this shit (life) out ... but if I had comment on it today, to quote Rupika from a future installment...
"There are 3 types of choices in life. The smart one, the right one, and the one that will make you happy. Leaders chose the first, stubborn and miserable people chose the second and, followers chose the third.
When are you going to be okay with being happy?"
And the answer is, I still don't know.

Why did you decide to go to Japan? Was it always to start a company like this?

Short answer yes.
Long answer... it wasn't really to start a company (we're not even a company now). There was a story I wanted to tell and that's pretty much the extent of what my desires were at the time. I wanted to write in Japanese too and although I could have done so in LA, I thought it would be more prudent to just come out here to experience something new.
Also, I realize this now but I wasn't in a very healthy environment back in the states. Most of my friends were good people but were very prone to making bad choices. Terrible things have happened that, once again, at the time, I couldn't realize were terrible. Violence, alcoholism, drug abuse, incarcerations... most of the weren't first hand experiences but it was only just a matter of time till the endless slew of bad gang/drug/delinquent/coming of age movie cliches that will keep my ass tied down.
Anyways... I can go on forever about this so I'll I think I'll end it here.
Hmm... I think I answered this before..
We had a big ass Q&A section here over at your Patreon. It was a Patrons only post but I guess we'll release it to the world because it's been a while now.
You can read the whole thing here

PS
Are you thinking of dropping everything and just getting the fuck out of dodge? My advice for you is to seriously, just do it. I don't even know you but I can tell you that you have nothing to lose because you aren't losing anything by going away. (But this is for like... younger or people who don't have others depending on them ya? Don't just abandon your child or your sick mother because you're tired of how things are going. Don't be an asshole.)

Is there any well known form of forbidden manakravte in the fault world?

Put it this way: this is sort of like asking "are there any forbidden science in our world?".
If so what do you think of is a well known "forbidden science?" Human cloning? Stem cell research? Designer babies and DNA manipulations like CRISPR? Body augmentation? Nuclear/chemical powers and weapons?
You have to think now, what makes some of these things "forbidden"? Usually it's a moral issue that stems from some sort of religion or a rule that has been collectively agreed upon by some form of organization. This means what is forbidden can easily change depending on what country or group of people you are asking on behalf of.
So, who's perspective are you asking for?
The simple answer is: of course. There are many different folks in the world of fault and unsurprisingly, they ban things in the name of justice just like we do here.
But I have a feeling that's not what you are asking. I'm guessing you're asking a more romantic question about some ancient kravte that can awaken a fault version of Cthulhu; rumored to doom the world. No. First of all, manakravting is a relatively new form of human advancement and is thus quite secular in nature; It is an advancement that followed fault's world version of the Age of Enlightenment and that's only centric to the Alliance. When Sanne Ajrizdan folks hear the term "manakravete" they don't associate it with any sort of spiritualism or Mysticism.
More on this later when the story calls for it.

What inspired you to create a character like Rune?

Kireus G
The flow chart of my brain when I wrote ms1:
Are we humans born good or evil? → whichever the case, what decides what is good and evil? → how much does human emotion factor in this equation? → if there was a way to fix a psychopaths neurological pathways so they are more prone to "feeling" stuff like a normal person how will they change? → will the concept of good and evil change within themselves after feeling emotions? → if a computer algorithm convinced us that it has human emotions, is that enough for us humans to accept them as sentient beings that deserve "rights"?

How was AX?

It was an interesting experience. I'm gonna be dead honest with you... cons just aren't my thing. Same with the Comikets in Japan. We kinda do it for advertisement but asides from that I have very little emotional investment in the whole human process because I'm a sociopath that's dead inside.
That being said, the signing was very humbling -- eye opening even. It's one thing to get positive feedback on the internet, getting to see real results of how much people like the series is completely another. It made me want to genuinely do better and keep pushing the envelope so the people who appreciate what we do are justified in doing so.

dies = これ、この
fallacy = 美しい
Fallacy = 愛
phine/Phine = 音〜音楽(古語。もう使用されていない)
Sympathika -

What role does Selly play in the government? Is she the person that makes and enforces laws?

No. Selphine's job is to finish the pathdown safely and take over her fathers spot. Other than than, she just chills, attends parties that she's not too fond of, look shiny while doing so, and does her best not to die or get killed.
Valah (the King), the Knights, and the Serenhaide Privy Council makes laws together.
A lot of this will be explored in StP.

What was the original draft of fault like?

It was basically "Tales of Anastasia". Some dude came up with: "A princess gets shooed out of her kingdom by the evil Meano (yes, Meano, not Melano) and they have to battle at the end to get the Kingdom back". That was pretty much it. He made characters like... "thief thats a gambler, a sommelier that likes wine, a 63 year old doctor that looks 20 because she keeps herself looking young by magic medicine (because god forbid women age in video games right, Gust?), a fairy that likes flowers, an elf that was an assassin"
....Yeah, pretty eye rolling stuff. There were vampires and bunnies and cat girls and scorpion women and just... you know, very kooky for the sake of kooky JPRG shit where things don't need to make much sense as long as there's a bunch of girls. All of this was fine and dandy but there was 1 problem: I was the writer and I couldn't see straight because my eyes were rolled too far back into my skull. I suggested we take a more realistic approach by shaping the whole thing more as science fiction.
He disappeared after that.
Few years later when I moved to Japan, I decided my first game would be "fantasy" (this was decided by a coin flip btw. If that coin landed on the other side I would have worked on a more traditional science fiction story, never met Hare-san that was looking for fantasy work, and possibly never get picked up by Sekai Project) so I took the old idea, added Ritona as Selphine's guard as a start, spent about half a year just world building and the foundation of what you know as "fault" was born.
So yeah. The seed of fault has been around for a while.

This may be a stupid question, but I haven't played the demo yet and I was wondering if it was "safe" to play. I usually avoid demos and trailers because they just take the first chapter or other random parts of the actual game and I'd rather experience the full thing at once.

It's safe. Unless you don't want to see anything at all, like 2 sprites and 1 background art, this demo is purely a 4th wall breaking technical demonstration of what StP is gonna be like.

How does it feel to know someone somewhere on this planet has a crush on someone you invented?

Interesting question... I'm not sure. It's not happiness... it's not a feeling of satisfaction... this isn't a feeling of gloat .... I guess the most accurate word would be comfort?
We're glad we are making something that can mean a lot to you -- that you can really relate to. I hope the girls enrich your life in someway and if they do that gives me a level of comfort.

" Is there a book of the story? A.... Book? Are you asking if fault is based on something? If so then no. fault is an original series that started and is still a visual novel." Would you think about publishing a book about the story? Or would that just end up being the VN without pictures?

This is... kinda in the works? I suppose? Don't get your hopes up too much but we'd love to novelize fault at some point. "Some point" being the keyword though.

Found Plot Hole in FMS1 The Store Manager who sells sediment stones calls Rune by her name "Rune" (who is know as Sara at the time by the town folk) Later is said that Rune told only Selphine and Ritona that her name is Rune Why does the manager know the name Rune and not Sara beforehand???

I'm trying to find classy way to answer this while defending myself... and this is the best I can come up with.
It's not like that in the original Japanese version, the version that I wrote. We are working on a permanent "fix" which should be coming very soon.

What's AiD's "policy" on piracy of your games? Does it make you feel a) angry / frustrated, b) happy that people like it enough to pirate it, c) no particular negative feeling or something else? I'm just curious about how AiD feels and reacts towards piracy of their games. Thanks in advance!

Pretty much neutral as it can get. It's all of the above of what you said to be precise. No matter how much it gets pirated though, we aren't gonna DRM it like insane Japanese companies that think copy protection will really save their sales numbers... That notion is just crazy.
Now if someone was making money off of our IP we would do everything to shut them down... But if you're talking about torrents and such there's really nothing we can do about it. Some people have bought the games after they stole it/watched it on YouTube though, so I guess we'll just try to keep making games that are worth paying for.

You think fault can have a end? If people continue to follow it , they want continue the story . And do you take the idea of people who give it several? :o

I'm having a hard time understanding this question. Does this mean "If people were to request the continuation of fault, will you let it continue and not end it, possibly by letting others take over the story"? If so, then no. This is kind of like asking "will you continue having sex with someone without ever reaching orgasm?". We, AiD, are working our ass off to get to the ending. In fact the ending is what came before everything else. The beginning and the middle are just things I make up to make sure the ending makes sense.
I, personally, am not doing this to get famous or to get rich. I'm doing this to prove to myself that I can finish this giant story in a satisfying way. Finishing fault is my first major milestone in life as a writer so I'm most definitely not doing to deprive myself of the ending, no matter how well the series maybe doing. You probably shouldn't be worrying much about this though... because at the pace we are moving at currently, it's gonna take a while to get there.
Plus. there's a bunch of other IP's that I want to try making too! If you liked fault those will be good as well, I promise.

The mood has been frantic in both current episodes. Will there be moments in future episodes to see world building for each country visited (like down to the level of holidays and such), or will the series ramp up the tension even more? Either way, I look forward to your work and continued efforts!!

First of all thanks for the compliment~!
Well, StP is set in Rughzenhaide and we spent a great deal of time building the country so you've got that. If you're talking about other countries that Selphine and the gang will visit, then I can't really answer. If the politics and holidays are important to the story then they will be explored. If not then there really isn't a point asides from "it's fun". Gotta figure out the balance when I plot the story.
Tension wise, yeah. I won't say much about StP but ms2b will be quite more fucked up than ms2a.
Stick around~.
