*cries* Thank you for admitting this. I felt so alone, so ashamed!

There is no chocolate point too low for me to sink. You're safe here.

In desperate times, have you ever gone for the cooking chocolate in the pantry? Straight up?

God yes!

As an American, I think Aus chocolate sucks okay bye

Yeah, I think chocolate preference tends to be highly regional.

What is so bad about American chocolate?

It's sort of dusty and chalky but also overly sweet. QUITE different from Australian chocolate, which is very creamy. I'm sure the preference just depends on what you were raised though.

Have you tried Hershey's chocolate? I tried the 'kisses' and it is what I imagine evil tastes like. I feel sad that Americans think it's good.

I have, and I don't like it at all. UK chocolate is passable however.

I like big kitchen benches and I can not lie.

SAME! Although the best thing about this kitchen is the big oven. At our last place I had to cook roasts in three shifts and it just wasn't quite as delicious.

I made your soup and it's amazing and the normal blender worked perfectly. Thank you for the recpie xx

Did you! I'm so relieved it was good 😁

I remember you talking on here about how one day you might reveal some of the unusual things you find erotic, would you still like to share this sometime?

I'm sure I said I would never reveal them because they're too terrible. So, no.

Anna Spargo-Ryan for Celebrity Masterchef! Or Bake Off? Which one would you prefer?

I would prefer Bake Off, but I'm a much better cook than baker. I'm actually a terrible baker. I make a really good lemon meringue pie but otherwise am total rubbish.

I don't have a stick blender. Will a normal blender work?

I guess so! I really have no idea. I can't see why it wouldn't.

do you like going to see other writers talk at festivals or libraries etc? if you have, has anyone really impressed you?

I do like it! I don't get to go as often as I would like, though. The one that still sticks out for me was an Adelaide event when I was in high school, when I saw Gillian Rubinstein and Melina Marchetta talk about magic in writing. I still think about it now, when I'm working on my own writing.

Have you read A Little Life? I'm making my way through very slowly.

I have only read 30 pages. It's actually on my to do list even if only for research purposes - I must find out what she did to devastate everyone, and how.

Are you good at making new friends? Do you want more friends?

I'm bad at making friends. I would like to have more friends.

Have all your partners been conventionally good looking?

I ... think so? In the sense that they've been tallish, average to slim build, in generally good health. I doubt you'd see any of them on the street and have a strong negative opinion of their appearance.

What do you think about self publishing?

I think it's a great alternative to trade publishing for some authors. I think it's silly only to consider it as a fallback or a plan B - I know lots of writers who chose to self-publish even though trade publishing was available to them, and they make more money that way. I do think a lot of writers probably underestimate the amount of work (and probably money) required in terms of marketing themselves and their books. As the market grows, it becomes less and less likely you'll happen upon something that's been professionally edited and wonderfully written, so differentiation is very important. Overall I think it's a good thing that could maybe benefit from a bit more regulation (but then maybe that would defeat the purpose?).

Hello, do you have any advice for sending out a manuscript? I've just had a publisher read the first 5000 words and now they want the rest of it. I'm really nervous.

Send it! And chookas!

YASSSSS! Crunchies taste weirdly chemical to me. like I'm eating a science experiment gone wrong. I will just lick the chocolate off if I'm despo and no other choc is in the haus though. classy.

Yes! Strongly relate!

How do you deal with praise?

I'm making a concerted effort to be better at accepting praise. I'm extremely grateful to receive it, but my brain is usually adamant that I don't deserve it, so I'm most comfortable explaining why the person giving it is mistaken. That's just insulting to their kindness and doesn't make me feel better ultimately anyway. So, I'm not great at it but am working on it.

Crunchies or Violet Crumbles? I like to ask the important questions. This one nearly started a riot in my home.

Violet Crumbles EASILY. I won't eat a Crunchie even if it's the only chocolate in the house.

Fair enough! I apologize for the personal question too.

No apology needed! It's a very difficult situation that's honestly causing me a lot of heartache right now.
