Have you read How To Love Brutalism by John Grindrod? It may not change your mind, but it may lead you to understand why some people like brutalism.

Hadacol’s Profile PhotoHerbert Henry Asquith
I haven’t! Don’t get me wrong, I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder and that just because I may not see the appeal, doesn’t mean others feel the same! There’s probably some cool structures out there that I just haven’t seen yet :)
Thanks for the suggestion though! I’ll keep an eye out for it :)

Is there a teacher that you’ll always remember? What makes them be so memorable?

LunarHuntress’s Profile PhotoYentl (Only Dutch And English)
My maths teacher at secondary school. I’m not sure why, but he always had tremendous faith in me. I think he could see that I enjoyed the subject and had an affinity with it, while simultaneously, I had very little faith in my abilities as I was insanely withdrawn and quiet.
I remember him saying in class one day that out of all the students he had taught, I was the only student he had taught consecutively for five years. He likened it to him being a sports coach and having a star player, and that person was me. I was embarrassed at first at the attention, but honoured, too.
I felt invisible to everyone at school, but for some reason, he saw me, and I’ll always be grateful for that :)

What kind of architecture do you like the most? Maybe post some example pictures? 🏠🏯🏰🏢🛖

I love gothic architecture, so cities such as Edinburgh and Prague instantly come to mind! With monumental turrets and spires, all feats of incredible craftsmanship. So anything baroque, in truth! Literally any German castle is always a stunning feat of art, too.
Also just the softness of architecture you find in countries bordering the Mediterranean as well, I just think there’s such a beautiful rustic charm to the buildings.
To be honest, the only style of architecture I really don’t like are the ones that fall into the brutalism spectrum, they’re just incredibly harsh and imposing to look at, to the point it makes me feel uncomfortable 😂

favorite historical era?

H2o_o2H’s Profile Photoꪖ᥅ᥴꫝ꠸ꫀ
In terms of aesthetics, I particularly like the Rococo and Romanticism eras, so early 1700s through to the mid 1800s. It’s when (to me, personally) art is at its peak, both in a literal sense through the decadence and elegance of the Rococo period, and with it being seen as a way of life through the Romanticism era; aspiring to being the best one could be, spiritual enlightenment, actively finding and seeking the beauty in everyday life through nature, etc. It’s something I admire greatly and it aligns with my values.
Both eras influence my work a lot too, it’s what I’ve always gravitated towards even as a child, exploring art museums.
History in general is often fascinating though, so I couldn’t pick a certain time! :)

thank you so much for this! 😀 i will read into it a bit more. my dentist who ive only been with for about 2 years has started doing invisaglin & i just mentioned i might be interested & she booked me in for a scan (220 pounds) just to see if im suitable! i cancelled it after because i felt pressured

You’re very welcome!! 🤗
But yeah definitely, take your time in having a gander. Feel free to shoot any more questions my way if you wish, I’m happy to help!
Oh jeez, all of that money, just for a scan?! Mine was free 😳
That’s an awful lot of pressure, that’s completely understandable as to why you cancelled it. I swear orthodontists/dentists just prey upon people’s fears, it’s crazy how much they can charge!

omg, i was reading about night aligners with companies similar to the one you’re using! that would be perfect and I wouldnt care if it took twice as long. its also a about a quarter of the cost of invisalign!! but i got scared off by a few bad reviews! ive read good ones too but the bad ones stick!

Ahh no way?! I’m glad you reached out!! But totally, I was researching similar companies for ages before settling on WonderSmile - like you say, there’s some brilliant reviews out there, but then you get some real dodgy ones, aha.
These guys are legit though, I went to their office off Leadenhall Market for my 3D scan, and the orthodontist was super lovely and has been in contact with me since to see how I’m doing. I’m quoted to take about 11 months, as I’m only wearing them at night, but that doesn’t sound too bad?! Maybe it’ll be around the same for you :)
There’s no pressure whatsoever, but here’s my link, if you want to check out the site and everything! They do do discount codes sometimes (mine was a Black Friday deal), but it could be worth signing up to their mailing list too (as in, I was gifted a free Whitening Kit, just by ordering at the right time, etc) :)
I hope this helps! https://fbuy.io/wonderuk/2488rkt2

I do! I don’t use it to actively gain followers or anything like that, but I tend to pin any image I find inspiring in some way; whether that be travel related, aesthetics (like light/dark academia), or history/art, as references to refer to :)
I’ll check yours out! Mine’s https://pin.it/5LYmv7B :)

you mention how your teeth were becoming crooked a while ago and you wanted to fix it? did anything come of that? im in the same situation and am thinking of looking into something like invisalign because i dont want braces again and my teeth arent that crooked, they just need a bit of help!

I’m actually wearing braces now! Just at night currently, but I’ve been doing so since early/mid December? I am starting to see a slight difference already, which is cool!
I’m using WonderSmile, which is basically a company like Invisalign. I highly recommend this company though, especially as it sounds like you’re in the same situation as me! I wear the Night Aligners (so about 10 hours a day) and I upload pics once a month to their server and if anything doesn’t work out, I should get feedback. Then you swap out the aligners every three weeks, so I’m guessing Invisalign is like that too? But honestly, if you are genuinely interested, let me know, as I think I can refer a friend and they get £100 off their treatment! They may be a fraction cheaper than Invisalign too, but don’t quote me on that.
That aside though, I highly recommend getting aligners if you can - I pay monthly, and the total price is a fifth of what the dentists quoted me :)
Sorry for the ramble! I just find it helpful to hear of these things from people who are actually going through it, as opposed to online reviews that may not be real etc, aha! :)

Which has more value: creativity or knowledge?

Both are equally important in evolving as a person, and generally as a collective. Creativity can be utilised to provide unique and varied solutions to issues that arise, whereas knowledge gives you that insight to learn from mistakes in the first place and to gain experience from a situation.
Both complement and inform the other.
If you’re asking this purely as a personal question, I honestly couldn’t choose one over the other. They’re equally important to me; creativity is my calling and how I express myself to the world, but expanding my knowledge and constantly learning is a passion of mine too, which in turn, fuels my creativity. It’s a cycle, really :)

2/2 As an adult I see so much neglect from “good” people though. Aquaintances who keep their dogs locked up all day & rarely walk them, others who start a family and ignore their animals/get rid of them. People laughing that their goldfish “always die within a week” etc. Sorry for ranting!

Ah, fair enough there, I mean I understood where you were coming from anyways, but I definitely get your frustration there! I’ve always found that particular point of when people start families and then abandoning their pets/completely ignoring them to be rather upsetting. That’s horrific too, regarding the goldfish comments! 😭
No need to apologise aha, I get you, truly!! Justice for the fur and non furry babies! 💪🏻

I agree with you about zoos (& the conservation point). Remember when it was a big thing in America for the rich to have a lion or tiger as a pet? That’s so awful. I couldn’t imagine growing up without family pets tbh. My dog was such a solace for me especially during my difficult teenage years 1/2

I know, or when you see pics of hunters posing with their “prize k*ll”, it’s horrific. I’m sorry you went through some difficult years, I can completely empathise, my pets were very much my solace during mine too. Animals are incredibly healing! :)

I’ve love my pets but does it seem weird to you that you can just buy a living being so easily? I sometimes think no-one should have pets tbh because there is so much abuse of animals and we literally take them from their families etc. I hope I’m making sense & I’d love your thoughts 🙂

I don’t disagree with you at all! I love animals and that’s why it’s so saddening going to a zoo or something; it’s lovely to see the animals but they should really be free and not in captivity (I guess it’s a fraction better when it’s a conservation and the animals actually *need* help as they wouldn’t survive in the wild on their own due to injuries, etc).
I think the main issue I have are those who breed animals purely for the money repeatedly; the stress it must put on the mother of constantly having her babies taken away is unimaginable, as well as the physical toll it must take on her body. I remember when we got Teddy, the woman who gave him to us was so distraught, and I don’t think she’s ever bred with her dogs since. I know the owner still takes her dogs to visit her puppies that live locally to her, so that to me doesn’t sound as bad? It shows that there’s a genuine affection and care there for her dogs well-being. But yeah, I’m the same as you really, it’s hard not to feel conflicted.
For all of the horror that does happen, there are a lot of loving families out there and pets who have wonderful lives in a good home, such as with yourself! I guess with anything, there’s positives and negatives to it :)
