it's a language spoken by not many folks, so I wouldn't expect anyone to know unless they were Irish, living here or learning Irish. We were colonized 800yrs ago so most Irish people don't even know much Irish.

The proper term for the Irish language is "Gaeilge". "Gaeilic" refers moreso to the culture, like "Gaelic football" is our football etc.
Ohh ok! I didn't know that! I've always been taught that Gaeilic was the term, so it's nice to know that that's not the right word to be using!

Yeah this phrase is taken from an old Irish toast which is longer. This is the last line of the toast but has a different meaning when taken out of context. I love the toast tbh! :D
Yea the whole thing we have hanging at our door says "May your glass be ever full, May the roof over your head be always strong, and may you be in heaven half an hour before the devil knows you're dead". It says it in both English and I think Gaelic? Idk the proper term for the Irish language but yea, i've always enjoyed that saying!

We actually have a little sign at our front door, on the inside, (at my mom's place) that has that saying on it (I think it has a little more too it than just that though)! I've always found it to be super funny and light-hearted :)
