I actually do poles but usually only at 4h bc Tipsey and I SUCK. but I'm trying to learn how to goat tie/ rope
thank you ❤️ she finishes her left barrel well. but the right first barrel always gets bombed 😕 I've been doing that exercise for the pat few weeks now but only at a walk/trot. thanks again
hmm well it took Tipsey quite a while herself which was really frustrating. you could always try Spurs, I use them on Tipsey and she responds to leg pressure WAY better. also you could set cones for her coming out of the barrel!
what's some good exercises to do for finishing the barrels tighter?
this is something Tipsey and I have struggled with A LOT. we didn't start finishing our turns Til late August. I learned I wasn't taking her in wide enough. I practice taking them out wide going in the turn then when you get 3/4 around the barrel to to put my outside leg on them and put my outside rein on them. in order for you to practice this your horse needs to move off leg pressure and neck rein well. I also go around the barrel twice if she doesn't finish the turn like I want her to. just start at a walk, then trot, and then you move up to a canter. just keep doing that until your horse does that every time. Also over exaggerate EVERYTHING you do in practice. it's taken me this long to finally get her to finish her turns, so baby steps! I hope this helps!!!
