Ask @cathincollege:

Calli, Slim and Shannon have ten times more chill than you, I don't understand how they put up with you. I'm not trying to be mean, but I know all of you personally and they are just so much cooler and less-egotistical it's really baffling how they just put up with your whole "I'm SO important" shit

Lol your move dude

I just realized you only have 4,294 subscribers and you deserve so much more:((

Das okeeee-- What matters is that I'm staying true to myself and just enjoying the process. โ˜บ๏ธ Plus having a smaller number of followers means I get to interact more with individual people like you!

ok IDEA we all are super interested in how to get into stanford or what types of people get into stanford, how about you make like a "meet Cath's friends" tab on your blog with little about mes about all of your friends? like what they study, dream jobs, their hobbies, and fun facts???? :D

I've definitely thought about this before... Maybe it's time to make it happen? ๐Ÿ˜

Have you ever taken caffeine pills to help you stay awake? Do you have any tips on staying awake...I always stay up past 12 doing hw and I get so drowsy :(

I hhaaatteee taking pills (drugs in general freak me out big time) so no I have never taken a caffeine pill. I know they work well for some people, but I prefer to use exercise and an appropriate amount of sleep every night to keep me refreshed and recharged! Another alternative is to try doing your homework early-- perhaps waking up a bit earlier? I know I function much better in the morning than at night!

Were you as confident as you are now in high school? If not, when/how did you become this confident? I could really use your advice as I am a high schooler trying to work on my self confidence and really admire yours.

Lol I think I was MORE confident in high school! It was to the point of cockiness tho... I like how I am now much better. Humility is something I learned more about in college. The truth is, confidence is a game of fake it till you make it. I'll have to noodle on this topic more before I write a post about it, but I definitely think that confidence is something that begins as a conscious habit. If you tell yourself you're cool, and start pretending you are, other people will see that and start treating you accordingly. And when other people are treating you like you're cool, then you'll be confident for real :)

Cath! I adore you and your videos :) Right now, I am working on my college essays and am going through some major writer's block. My essays are true to myself, but I just worry that they may not be very unique or reflect enough high level thinking. Any tips? Thank you so much! <3

What's something that keeps you up at night? A question or thought or idea that makes you scratch your head and wonder at the world... Write about that :)

hi catherine! i think of you as my big sister so im hoping you can give some sisterly advice. i met this boy at a program and developed a pretty big crush but then he ends up liking my friend. :( now what do i do? its hard cause we stay together a lot but they keep drifting away by themselves. :'(

:'( I'm sorry boo. I can understand that you feel bummed about this-- that must suck more than I know. All I can say is that this is a time for you to look inside and remember all the wonderful things that you love about yourself, and celebrate them! Take yourself on a date, write down your best qualities, spend time with your best gal pals. Get feeling GOOD being on your own, and then next time he's there with your friend you won't even notice, you'll be feelin yourself so much :)

the way you write has totally inspired me to expand my vocabulary and truly embrace learning as not something for college or the future, but just for the amazing thing it is (: THANK U LOVE

WOW this has got to be one of the best compliments I've ever received. Grow your mind, surround yourself with smart people, challenge yourself, change the world. You are so welcome. ๐Ÿ‘Š

#replyask Your videos showed me that there isn't really much to stress out about regarding making friends, the rooms, etc. I was freaking out a lot at how I wasn't going to make friends, but I took your advice and just said hello to anybody friendly. I think my Stanny friends are the best friends.

โค๏ธโค๏ธโค๏ธ Everything has a way of working itself out in the end. It's one of my favorite things about the universe. Glad freshman year is going well for you :)

Your vlogs make me so excited to go to college and all of your friends are hilarious and remind me a ton of me and my friends except I don't have any guy friends. Do you feel like it is more common for girls and guys to be friends in college than it is in hs? did you have a lot of guy friends in hs

I think it's possible that there are more all-gender friend groups in college more than high school--but that is just my experience. I had guy friends in high school as well--pardon the generalization, but guys tend to have a much lower tolerance for BS/pettiness, and I've always really appreciated that ๐Ÿ˜Œ

Sry if this question gives bad vibes cuz its about the future which I know is scary for a lot of students. Ur website/YT stuff is HECKA entertaining (parties/piercings) but r u worried that it may affect job prospects? N do u hope to become a reporter/columnist? i lov ur content and wish the best <3

Not certain what I wanna do one day because I don't like narrowing my vision of the future, but no I'm not worried about any of CiC affecting job prospects in the future! If a potential employer can't look at CiC and see the positives, then that's not a company I want to be working at.

do you have any tips for self-reflection/introspection? I've recently realized I'm not introspective at ALL and college app brainstorming has been a struggle...

Ask yourself why you do what you do on both the macro and micro scales, and immediately jot down whatever comes to mind! Writing will help to force you to anchor nebulous thoughts into concrete ideas.
