If you aren't worried about technical tricks, you can use pretty much anything! Check out the specs and shapes and pick whatever looks good. :) -Steve

Hey, I really like the WM2 but I did not feel the Scout was a great fit for me. I guess I try to lean more toward a tech-y style. Would the AC2 or Puffin 2 be better suited towards me?

What do you guys think of fingerspins? Does anyone of the team like to do them? Ever thought about making a return top with an "optimized" inner cup for doing fingerspins?
Palli does them really well, and Andrew Maider uses them to great effect in some of his combos, but I don't think most of the rest of our team does much with them. -Steve

Chris and I have been talking for a while about using Kickstarter to help with our next plastic return top. In January I met with some friends who have successfully run some really large-scale Kickstarter projects, and had a nice chat with someone at Kickstarter who specializes in Design & Technology projects, and working with project creators to really maximize their campaigns.
Running a crowd-funded manufacturing project can be a MASSIVE undertaking, and I'm honestly a little nervous for YoYoFactory...I think Ben caught the tiger by the tail with this one and I don't think he realizes how much work he just signed up for ha ha. So yeah, we've thought about it and yeah we're probably going to do it, but we're taking our time and doing a LOT of advance legwork to make sure it goes smoothly. -Steve

Steve, how do you feel when you see a lot 5a players today? Do you feel like you have accomplished something in the yoyoing world? Do you feel like you have made a big influence to the yoyoing world after being a "founding father" of 5A?
It's pretty awesome to see this thing I made pick up such popularity worldwide. I wish Duncan wasn't holding it hostage and was working on promoting it more...seems like they've pretty much just abandoned it, which is a real shame.

I think that Advance Scout makes a lot of sense, but I am still confused about th Chief because it seems liek every run was a different weight.
Some of the weight changes were due to just variance in the machining by different machine shops, some were due to slight changes in the design, some were even due to anodizing. It's pretty normal for multiple runs of a single model to have differences, especially when they are coming from multiple machine shops. -Steve
