You get this question all the time. But here goes. my first clyw is a fg avalanche, 67.2g which ever run those are. I like how it feels on the string and what not. Looking at the fg bonfire and fg chief. I enjoy the fgs btw. Looking for something simular in feel but with some width. Leanibg toward b

Go for a Bonfire. Can't get enough of that return top, and it's very often the only thing that Chris throws for weeks at a time. -Steve

does the splash orca also the first run or is it the second?

Technically first run, although they won't be available for a little while. There are only like 60 pieces of splash being done, but they are at the anodizer now. -Steve

if you make a puffin 3 get rid of that nub! and make it concave please!

Take it up with Palli. His signature, his decision. -Steve

What makes the Orca so great? Please answer in detail. I am planning to buy one.

It's fast, stable, long spinning, feels really great in the hand and on the string, and it's a huge jump forward for CLYW design-wise. We like moving forward, we like new things, and this collaboration with Harrison is something that we are super proud of. I think a lot of people are REALLY going to like this return top, and I've already had a dozen people try my Orca proto and tell me they think it's the best thing CLYW has ever made. -Steve

Why are you guys discontinuing the AC2? Is Zach tiered of the throw or does he have his own plans? New design or flaw in the design? It feels like you guys are producing too many different products instead of sticking with a few models. How much different can a throw be to another after all the years

Zach wants an entirely new design, with a new direction. So, we're going do what Zach wants because we love him, we trust his judgement, we like new things, and we think we can top the Arctic Circle and AC2. -Steve

Really? A puffin 3... Why

Because we can make the Puffin 2 better. Palli has some refinements he wants to make, and they are really good ones. -Steve

Do NOT discontinue the Bonfire. It's too good! Surprised that the chief isn't discontinued because of how many models you guys are throwing out.

No idea why people keeping thinking we're going to retire it. Every time someone asks we say "no" and then, like, two days later someone else says "I HEARD YOU WERE RETIRING THE BONFIRE" and I have to start all over again.
Definitively: the Bonfire is not going anywhere anytime soon. -Steve

Not happy with the way the colors on the current run of the AC2. they're not as attractive as previous runs, especially ashberry, maideraide, 28 stories. Hate the way the solids came out on the puffin 2's.

Not really sure what to say to this. Everyone knows that anodizing varies greatly from batch to batch. Yeah, some runs are better than others of certain colorways but if you don't like an entire run of return tops (including solids? How can you hate the way a solid color turned out? It's just a solid color.) then I guess you just saved some money. Luckily, there are a ton of other companies releasing a ton of other stuff so maybe you can find something else that looks better to you. Sorry we disappointed you. -Steve

Do your players each get a custom ano for their orcas?

Nope, just sending them production colors. -Steve

so I really like the bonfire, and the gnarwhal 2, but I don't like the puffin 2 and sasquatch as much. Would I like the chief, orca, or scout more?

I really like pizza and calamari, but I don't like asparagus or tofu. Would I like chow mein, pulled pork sandwiches, or pickled pigs feet more?
It's kinda like that. ;)
The Chief, Scout, and Bonfire are all in the same "vein", so if you like one the chances are pretty good that you'll like all of them, I guess. The Puffin 2 is totally different from everything else we make, but the Gnarwhal and Sasquatch were designed at the same time to be different sized versions of each other, so it's weird that you like one but not the other.
And the Orca is totally different than everything else, so I have no idea ha ha. Sorry. Good luck! Get an Orca, they're great. -Steve

Hey what does it take to be a great yoyoer and is it okay to use someone else's signature to become great?

Kinda hard to say, since a lot of people have really varying definitions of "great". For me, a great player is someone who not only masters the skill aspect, but also master the ability to teach others. People who truly love the art and sport of return tops and put a ton of work into spreading that joy...those are the ones I consider "great".
But yeah, you can use whatever you want to do that. -Steve

what is the biggest factor that makes your return tops highly priced?

The biggest factor is how much is costs us to produce them. -Steve

You can make a white yoyo! Just do laser engravings like for the puffin and orca but do it over the entire body :D

That would be kinda awesome! We'd have to sell it for like $250, but still...pretty awesome. -Steve

How many Orcas will be made?

We made a total of 230 solids. After b-grades, samples, and team allotment I think we have about 170 left that will go up for sale on Saturday.
The Orca is going to be in production for a while though...there will be plenty of chances to get one! -Steve

I have an idea! You should make instagram video contest of 3 or 1 best tricks inspired by CLYW players! It's gonna be fun and I think a lot of your fans have nice tricks inspired by your team members. What do you think about it?

Thanks for the suggestion! We have some other ideas already in the works, though. ;) -Steve
