What is the real story of the Great Gatsby? And may I know your take on this? Both judging it from your modern eye and judging it from the time it was written.

My take is that it was a Good Read. I just got out of my time machine and yep, it's is fine from my modern eye as well as from when it was written.
On a related note, Zelda Fitzgerald was a fascinating woman and I recommend the History Chick's podcast episode on her.

Name the ASKfm users, with whom you would want to go on a road trip for a week. Why them?

I want to go on a road trip with @TimMarshPhD and as many irl friends who'd want to go on a road trip with us. We can go in a van or a convoy of cars.
I've been playing ff15 a lot recently and I've been having so much fun tooling around the countryside as the main protagonist and his bros. There's something so lovely about being in a car traveling through the country, stopping at small rest stops, enjoying the fresh air (occasionally killing fantastical monsters for xp). I want to do that irl, monster killing optional. Get away from the city for a few days to a week, just the road, friends and adventures.

Which Christmas song freaks you out the most?

"Carol of the Bells", HANDS DOWN. I can't listen to that song without feeling incredibly stressed out. The melody has this incessant foreboding urgency to it, it blows my mind that it's a Christmas song and not some instrumental climax of a slasher movie scored by John Williams. Or an alternate music number for that boat tunnel sequence in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.
Anyway, here's a video for the song if you're not familiar: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wq73h6XZQGAcosmicmissb’s Video 141474954443 Wq73h6XZQGAcosmicmissb’s Video 141474954443 Wq73h6XZQGA

What type of character do you like to play in tabletop RPGs?

fvivek’s Profile PhotoFrancis Vivek
I tend to be more at ease with female characters, who are generally independent with above-average in intelligence. I'd ideally like to play witty and charming characters, but I don't think I quite pull that off (other than blurting out "plus 10 refinement!" after a badly put together description of what my character is doing/saying).
I don't think I'm a very good roleplayer tbh, but I'm working on it!

How well are you able to babysit other people's children?

fvivek’s Profile PhotoFrancis Vivek
I've very rarely babysat children. I've only formally babysat kids once, for my neighbours twin babies once, and I was on edge the whole time. It was good money, very easy in the scheme of things (I just did my homework and studied) but I was so worried the whole time that something would go wrong. But it didn't! The twins were adorable babies that slept the whole time.
I've always viewed babysitting as a potentially lucrative business for teens but which was an industry I never got into, though maybe that's due to me having read one too many Babysitters Club books.

How do you tend to give feedback to people in your professional or social circles when they've made mistakes you need to make them aware of?

fvivek’s Profile PhotoFrancis Vivek
It really depends on the circumstances. In professional circles, one tries to do it as professionally as possible, and it really depends on the circumstances. If feedback needs to be negative, I'll try my best to couch it as politely and with whatever positive feedback is relevant.
When it's with friends, I tend to be pretty direct with the confidence that my friends won't take any negative feedback personally but generally I don't feel like I need to correct friends very often in the first place.

Yeh, thks for your rooting answer. I asked a few people and was genuinely interested in the replies even though the word root is so ridiculous, I used it to take the edge off. Before I first had sex I was paranoid that I wouldn't be 'good' and looked up instructional p0rn videos. hahaha. Your point>

">about knowing what your own needs are is a good one. It took me a while to learn this but my first partner was lovely and we fumbled along together."
I've never heard of instructional p0rn videos but I wouldn't be surprised if that was a thing. It'll be good to have some educational stuff amongst the unrealistic, preformative stuff.
Good to hear you had good experiences with your first partner though!

Hey, how much do you buy your bok choy for? I've seen it as low as 2x for $1.50 at Haymarket but high as $2.50 per bunch at supermarkets. What do you consider a good price?

fvivek’s Profile PhotoFrancis Vivek
I haven't bought bok choy in ages tbh >_> I do like eating them in the food that I get though.

I find bok choy pretty bland. Is that part of the appeal or am I not cooking it right? I ate a lot of it as a student becoz it was cheap.

It has subtle flavors! Goes great with condiments and other foods, I don't usually eat it by itself. I've eaten it all my life, I guess it has a kind of comfort food quality to me.

Are you a good root do you reckon?

Plenty of people have answered this question including @TimMarshPhD and my answer is essentially the same as his. We get on fabulously well in that domain so, as far as I am aware, the answer to your question is "yes".
@rmaynard85 and @Soul_James have discussed the performative aspects of it and I'd just like to add that I think that to in order to be good at making the beast with 2 backs, you have to be fairly clued in to what your own needs are in the first place. It's terribly unfair to expect a partner to know how to please you if you don't know what it is you need to get your rocks off. You can figure that out by yourself or with your partner along the way, but I think everyone has a responsibility figure their shit out at some point.
It's really a 2 way street - to be good at amorous congress, it's not just how well YOU can perform, but also how well you can communicate to your partner so that they can be good too (and feel good about it in the process!).

Are you excited about moving into your home? No more inspections. Omg. What a life!

Yeah I am! But not the actual moving process. So much packing, chucking, sorting, organising, budgeting etc. I'm researching cleaners and removalists atm and I'm anxious about not getting ripped off and more importantly that they don't screw things up. I'm hoping to get my bond back.
Once THAT'S all done, yeah then it will get better. We'll slowly furnish the apartment (we'll be selling/donating most of our furnishings atm since it's all old, second hand stuff) and make it our own. I look forward to maybe doing some minor renovations, hang some stuff up. And yeah, no more inspections, whoo! I'm pretty stressed out about it atm (doesn't help that work's been massively busy), can't wait for it to be over.

What’s the most embarrassing typo or typos you’ve ever made?

This is not the most embarrassing typo necessarily, but it was one I made to @TimMarshPhD today that I thought was hilarious but might not be funny to others.

Okay, so one of the most infamously cringey screenshots that has ever been screenshotted is this masterpiece: http://i.imgur.com/dVj37gQ.jpg It's... so gloriously bad. Anyway, I thought I'd be cute and adapt the opening phrase and text Tim at random today, but it didn't quite work out:
Whats the most embarrassing typo or typos youve ever made

Do you like birds? They scare me with their flapping around and shitting everywhere but if you have a favorite can you let me know? Maybe I'm too harsh.

I hate birds. The beaks, claws, flapping wings, no thanks. If I had to pick a favorite it would be puffins I guess. They remind me of the publishing house so that's a positive correlation. Also they're waddly and fat so that's a plus too!
