How long have you lived in your current home?

Three years, which means it has yet to break into the Top Three Places I Have Lived The Longest: the house I grew up in (22 years) my own apartment in that same town (5 years) and my first apartment in Japan (4 years).

Where is the best place for a vacation?

I just want to go back to Hong Kong. There's lots of food and lots of buses/trains and it's a big city with lights everywhere and that's what I want.

What time do you usually wake up in the morning?

I set my alarm for six, but most days the kids or my own bowels wake me by 5:30. And oh how I wish that "weekends" meant sleeping in, but that's not my life anymore.

Which is worse, being too hot or too cold?

hot hot HOT.
Too cold makes me feel bad.
Too hot ruins my appearance, soaks my clothes, makes me smell awful, AND I feel bad.

Would you rather be a vampire or a werewolf?

I thought vampire would be the easy answer (cool powers, sexy image, no unnecessary body hair) but then I remembered that vampires hate garlic and that's easily 20% of my diet. So werewolf it is!

Where do you like to read?

Sitting in a chair in 2011 because that was the last time I had time to read an actual, physical book for me. These days if I expect to read a book, it's full of pictures and there are at least two children climbing on me to get a better look at it.

Which word do you want everyone to stop using?

"Content"
Not the feeling, the noun. As in "content delivery system" or "downloadable content" or "we have some exciting new content to announce next week"
Just. Stop. Do you make games? It's a game. Do you make movies? It's a movie (or a film, whatever). Stop with the "content." It's a hollow word that makes me feel like I'm listening to an executive addressing investors.

If you had more money than you ever need, would you give it away?

As opposed to what, burning it up Joker-style? I would not "give it away" because that sounds like dumping it outside and hoping someone in need finds it.
If I came into a huge sum of money I would spend it on and entrust it to smart people to put it to good use.
Some of it might go to charity but that would be by choice, not by random chance.

Why is Miller High Life your favorite beer?

It just happened? I'm not picky when it comes to beer. When my friends and I started drinking, we tried a lot of different drinks and delivery systems to get drunk and stay drunk as best we could. For one friend, he became enamored with Natural Ice: it was cheap, it was widely available, and it worked.
Me, I fell for High Life. The absurdity of the name was a factor. The silly nickname ("The Champagne of Bottled Beers") was a factor. But ultimately my reasons were similar to his love of Natty Ice: High Life was cheap(er than most beers), it was in most supermarkets, and it worked.
Now it's impossible for me to find because I don't think Miller has any presence in Japan, so Miller High Life has become a wistful reminder of days past. I doubt if I moved back to the US I'd drink it as much as I once did, just I like wouldn't gorge my favorite foods at every meal either. Miller High Life would likely pass into "old habit" status: I'd drink it and think back on the times I had, but I wouldn't jam my fridge full of it.
For the record my favorite beer here in Japan is probably Ebisu. It's NOT cheaper than the other beers on the shelf, but I like the malty taste.

What is your biggest regret?

I'm not big on "regrets" http://ask.fm/feitclub/answer/107668019032 but this being my birthday I must admit when I look back on my youth I feel a level of frustration that I didn't focus my desires sooner and pick a direction for my life. I had the same interest in Japan at 24 that I did when I was 17, but it took me years to consider formally studying the language. Maybe if I had started sooner and come to Japan sooner I'd feel more confident now? Not that I want to rewrite my entire life, mind you, but if you are a young person ("young" being whatever you think it means) don't be afraid to take a chance. It's not WRONG to wait or to say "I'm having fun, what's the rush?" but know that the longer you put things off, the greater the chance you're laying the foundation for a regret.
Put it another way: unless you're a raging workaholic-type you'll never "regret" pushing yourself to accomplish a goal.

What is the most overplayed song of all time?

Easy, the theme song to MTV's "Remote Control"
oh no wait, that was the most Ober-played song of all time. Never mind.

Why do some people enjoy life and others don’t?

Because enjoying life is hard fucking work.
I'm a privileged guy and even I know that life can be cruel and unfair. Life doesn't care what you might be feeling or going through emotionally, it just hands you issue after issue and says "This is yours now, deal with it." Some days life gives you nice things, some days life only has bad news, but as human beings we have to treat both of these situations as normal. We can't refuse life's whims, we cannot opt out of life's notifications. We cannot even take a break because life does not care if we are on vacation.
So with all this in mind, I am amazed that some people can wake up every day and say "Yes, this is fun." I may have felt that way, when I was on a roll, but lately I haven't been so upbeat. But I think it's important to remember that "enjoying life" is not the default setting of human beings. It's OK to feel sad, or mad, or grumpy, or anything you want. We all have unique lives and we all have a unique reaction to how life treats us. You get to enjoy life or not, it's entirely your call. And if anyone insists you smile you can tell them to fuck off.

<3 you for standing up for yourself, no matter what.

What do you put on your pizza?

FINALLY an important question.
Living in Japan and dealing with a steady stream of oddball pizza toppings (tuna? corn? sliced potatoes?) I've really come to appreciate plain cheese. Not only does it taste great and allow you to really savor all the seasoning in the sauce and crust, it's less likely to collapse when you pick it up.
However, when I order pizza I almost never go plain cheese because my selfish brain tells me I need to have more tastes in my mouth than "just pizza." It's the same thinking that makes a novelty burger topped with pumpkin or fried clams more appealing than a plain cheeseburger: if I don't try everything that makes me curious, I'm missing out.
So when I lived in the US, my go-to pie was pepperoni & mushrooms. When ordering by the slice, I tend to get one plain cheese and one pepperoni, unless I see something unusual in the pizzeria that makes me get greedy.
Here in Japan I live near a Domino's, and their "American Special" is pepperoni & parmesan cheese. It's a lot cheaper than their other specialty pies (a large pizza here can easily cost over $35) and it tastes good enough. Costco pizza is better, where I will choose plain or pepperoni depending on my mood (the deluxe is alright but it tends to collapse under its own weight)
One more thing: there is a pizzeria that serves slices in Osaka called...Slices. I like their BBQ Chicken and Curry slices (two different items) a lot.

Do you believe in horoscopes?

Funny story: Japanese TV shows routinely broadcast horoscope "rankings" (usually in the morning) and my son gets real upset when he's anything other than #1. We used to argue with him but now we just let him shout "Hooray, I'm number one!" regardless of his actual position. Because who cares, horoscopes are all imaginary anyway.

What is your least favorite food?

The Japanese call it Goya, I think the Chinese call it "bitter melon"? That name sums it up, although it's so bitter I practically spit it out. Thankfully it's only popular in Okinawan cuisine which I rarely have a chance to eat.

What hairstyle looks best on girls?

It's not my place to say what girls should do with their hair (or their *anything* for that matter) but in my opinion everybody looks better with short hair. And few things are funnier than men who complain about women who cut their hair short.

Which town did you grow up in?

A small (<8000 people) town in the suburbs of New York City. Everybody knew everybody. I went to school with the same kids from K-12, mostly. This meant I was surrounded by the same people for my entire childhood. And yet I could get on a train and put myself in the middle of a massive city inside of an hour. It made for quite the dichotomy growing up.
I consider New York my hometown more than anyplace else though. I don't really miss where I grew up. I was scared to leave and dragged my feet for years before finally moving out, but once I did it was a relief.
I wonder if my kids will feel the same way about the suburban city where we live now.
