No it's not "totally beside the point" when those questions are asked its because the police are trying to conduct an investigation. Which is what police do when a crime is committed. When those questions are asked its not called "victim blaming" it's called investigation. And we do live in a world where people ask "are you ok?" You just pretend that don't.
