Ask @HooIsRareowl:

Can you recommend anything to read?

My favorite book right now is Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo (quickly followed by the sequel Crooked Kingdom).
It's so action packed with such good plot twists. There's impossibly well-written schemes and break-ins. You also get really invested into the characters since it's told in 6 different POVs. Though multiple POVS usually turn me off, let me tell you it's one of my favorite aspects. It really kept me turning the pages since the author switches and leaves you at such dramatic cliffhangers so you just keep trudging on to find out what happened. The voices are SO distinguishable. Each one is absolutely necessary so it's not like you can skip around anyways. The book has so much diversity as well - in race, class, sexuality, and personalities. It also has some magic and a subplot of romance for all 6 main characters. I've never loved a book this much since A Series of Unfortunate Events. c': I recommend it to literally everyone.

UM YES? NO? MAYBE? xD
Dude, omfg hi! Long time no talk. o: I haven't checked ask.fm in forever, but you can always hit me up on Wattpad because I check that almost daily (I don't do much on it though besides check notifications though). HOW'VE YOU BEEN??? I've practically been dead because of school, but I'm slowly reviving. :')

would you rather want your child to be smart or kind? why?

i'd want my children to be kind, my love. kindness will get you further in life and even after life than being smart in my eyes. it's how you look out for people, how you spread love to others. being smart is a good quality to have and want, but being kind is a need in my opinion, especially when most people nowadays don't value it as much anymore.
(and yes, im still awake. old habits die hard.)

If you have to say something rn, what is it?

I hate school, but not as much as I anticipated. I miss my old school because of my friends and how it was a more intelligent and kind community of students. The learning environment was pressuring, though, and no one provided help. It still triggers me. Even though this new school is better for me mentally, it doesn't provide material enough to get me engaged in my education nor are the people friendly. I feel like I don't belong anywhere and it makes me feel bad about myself. But it's okay. I'm still living and I have people on my side. That's all I can ask for right now.

What is thing that annoys you instantly?

Okay, small thing but I hate it when I'm reading and people visibly see me reading but they still try to bother me. Like... I'm obviously very invested in this book and you're being a rude interruption. You don't know how many times it happened this week... (Exceptions for best friends bc I'd stop anything for them)

how do you connect with your characters, like personally ? i don't know , i'm writing and i planned out their personalities/backstory/etc everything but i can't like connect w them, if that makes sense. any tips, please ?

this is how i do my characters tho it's solely something i do and might not work for you c:
one) before i do anything, i make sure that i know the qualities i like about my character. what makes them special. i give them traits i already like - either from myself, others, or ones that i want to have. it makes it easier to love them for who they are if i develop them that way from the start. c':
two) i make character sheets. i am a very visual and writing person so i need it to be cute and small and organized. i write down things that come to mind, their quirks, personalities, backstory, what they look like, etc. just anything i can.
three) i usually sketch them out (bc i like drawing) from a doodle to a full reference, i just get them out in the open. c': it's my favorite part tbh. i also like finding models or actresses/actors to help me picture my characters as real people.
four) research everything. i love doing the myers berg personality tests for them and then reading their results. it helps me ground myself to their beliefs and how they act. also learn about their hobbies, their disorders, what their culture is like, etc. learn about them like a real person.
five) write them into your story but write your story into them as well. getting down their voice is hard (probably the hardest part for me) but it's good to experiment. play around with them now that you know who they are. write a part of you into it. give them aspects of you (small ones like their reactions or moods or memories), but have them also stand individually.
six) tbh i love talking about my characters c': me and my best friend talk about our characters a lot, we ask each other questions about them, we develop them together like they're our children. my sisters also pitch in and joke about them. it directly puts them into my life.
