I understand what youre saying also but diabetes is a condition where if you monitor it and look after yourself those side effects can be prevented and risks minimised. Treatment is there to do exactly what you mentioned - lessen the pain and struggle.
I get that. I do.
But diabetes is an incredibly hard to control condition.
You can do /everything/ by the book and still turn up a HI blood result, - HI being a result that means your blood sugar level is so high that a home monitor cannot read it.
You can take your blood, do insulin for everything you eat and drink, compensate and correct for every unit you are over your normal range and still end up in DKA.
And you know what DKA leads to?
Death.
I've been there.
Ask @JizzmineBaconTree because I can't even talk about it.
People don't seem to understand that diabetes is a killer.
Bloods too high? DKA and death.
Bloods too low? Diabetic coma and death.
Every single day is a battle and when you're insulin dependant you know it will never go away.
Complications happen regardless of how well you look after yourself because it's a debilitating, life-long disease.
