Ask @imannoor27:

What are you sick of explaining?

I know this can be abit of a heated topic and I'll have people commenting"WHY ARE YOU SPREADING SECTARIANISM !" etc But nah this is the message of our Prophet ﷺ and it is my duty to spread the truth and spread his word whether some people like it or not. You're always gonna have people who don't agree with you. I have many non muslim followers on here too who may see this on TV seeing people going crazy and slapping themselves and they'll be thinking this is part of Islam, and I probably have Muslim followers who may be confused and think the same. But the reality is that this mourning practice is not from our faith, this is a practice from the Days of Ignorance as said by our Prophet As a Muslim we love the family of our Prophet and we love the Sahaba dearly. The death of Hussain (radhiallahu anhu) was no doubt a very sad day in Islamic history. But even before and after his martyrdom many other companions were murdered brutally, beheaded, mutilated yet no where do we find that they mourned their death in such a way. This is not a Sunnah of our Prophet and neither is it a Sunnah or a practice of the Sahaba. It has no basis in Islam.
Narrated Abdullah: the Prophet ﷺ said, "He who slaps his cheeks, tears his clothes and follows the ways and traditions of the Days of lgnorance is not one of us." [Sahih al-Bukhari 1294]
