What is the best way for me to start saving money on a low income, unskilled job?

chillout1109’s Profile PhotoKusiye Chikomo
Start by keeping a record of every penny you spend and see where your money goes. Then work out what expenditure is unavoidable, what can be cut back on, and where there might be scope for savings.
The other avenue to explore is where you might be able to earn more, either by doing more hours, switching jobs, or taking on a second job that can fit around the first.

If someone called Tom started a cruise line, would they be allowed to call it 'Tom's Cruises'? XLPX

KrisKnowles’s Profile PhotoXLPX
Many famous people trademark their name in order to help prevent it being used for such purposes, but in reality, as long as the company is not trying to pass itself off as the actual Tom Cruise then they'd probably get away with it. If they were in the film or entertainment industry then they would have trouble, but in an unconnected industry you're usually ok, and obviously they couldn't use his image, quotations from his films, or anything else that linked them.
eg, if your name is McDonald then you can't open a burger bar (or any food place really) using the name McDonald's, and you would need to avoid use of the same font, colour palettes, and associated trademarks such as "fun" meals, clowns etc which might make it appear that you are passing yourself off as the same entity, but if you want to open a builder's merchants, not a problem.
At the end of the day a judge would decide, if Tom decided to sue. As he has more money for lawyers, it's probably best avoided.

Is your glass half full or half empty? 🍺

Ellis893757’s Profile PhotoJames
That depends on the direction of travel. If it is filling up then it is half full. If it is being emptied then it's half empty.

Would you like a big social media following or do you prefer to be more private?

asbeckyis’s Profile Photobecky
Quality not quantity. I'd rather have a small number with whom I can properly engage. When it gets to the point that you have so many that you can't properly engage with them or answer them all or give them all an adequate amount of your time, then you have too many. At that point you have fans, not friends.

now i know what you think of us disabled girls 😓

b4p7kzvgkt’s Profile PhotoLoose_change
That's too much of a generalisation. It would depend on how much the disability had a negative impact on my own life and whether or not the other advantages of the relationship would compensate for that. The difficulty is that the disadvantages are immediately apparent whereas the advantages are not and would take time to discover. That's a difficult barrier to be overcome but not an impossible one. I think that is a realistic viewpoint.

What is the most random fact you know?? 🤠

Ellis893757’s Profile PhotoJames
Not necessarily random, but Venus is the only planet that rotates clockwise, so the Sun would rise in the West and set in the East if it wasn't for the fact that it is a very cloudy planet.

I've definitely fallen asleep in a Physics lecture at uni, but it was a really big lecture theatre and I doubt he noticed.

What is one thing you love and one thing you hate about where you live?

LouiseDooley’s Profile PhotoOrion the Huntress
I love the location on the edge of both London and the countryside. I hate that they switch the street lights off at 1am, it's horrible walking at night with all the uneven pavements around here

What's the most dangerous thing you've ever done?

froyston’s Profile PhotoFroyston Afonso
Trying to mend an old TV while it was still powered. Those things can give you a real belt from the HT voltage on the grid. It was necessary for it to be powered in order to fault-find on it (part of my job at the time), and I hated doing it.

Do you like poetry?

LouiseDooley’s Profile PhotoOrion the Huntress
I never set out to read poetry (nor books in general, in truth), but I appreciate it when I come across it. I dislike really long poems though. To me, the point of poetry is to capture a feeling or a topic in as few words as possible. If they're going to write 10 verses then I'd rather they just wrote an essay.

Are you close to your siblings if you have them?

LouiseDooley’s Profile PhotoOrion the Huntress
Not really. I'm the youngest of 4 but there's a significant age gap between me and the others which means that we were never close growing up. We're friendly and everything, I've never had a problem with them, we just never had much in common. Things have got a bit better lately, but they all live some distance away and I only really see them a couple of times a year.

Do you remember what was your last essay?

I really haven't a clue, it's a long time since I wrote an essay. That's not something I remember doing for my Physics degree, nor for any of my A levels (Maths, Physics, Chemistry). I guess that means the last essay I wrote was probably in an English exam, aged 15.

It's a piece of digital art by the amazing @izzy_izz_iz
It's actually an unfinished version that she shared with me, but that just makes it unique and more personal.

How do you feel about London?

Shannon678900’s Profile PhotoShannon ( Birthday )
It's the centre of the modern World. Financially, culturally, historically. I wouldn't want to live right in the middle of it, but being close brings a lot of advantages and opportunities.
