What's the most expensive thing you've ever held in your hands? 🖐💎

Possibly a Martian meteorite, although it's a difficult thing to place a value on.

Do you like putting things together, like puzzles and assembling products?

I do. Today I was given a wooden pallet by a neighbour (the type used by builders for transporting bricks and slates etc) and I converted it into a herb garden a bit like this one. I've not put plants in mine yet because I haven't decided whether in going to paint it or not.

When was the last time you needed to get something repaired? What was wrong with it? 🚘🚲💻

I've been helping a guy in the US fix his synthesizer and the new Digital-to-Analogue converter chip (DAC) that we worked out had failed arrived today. He installed it and it has fixed his synth. Yay 🙂
The last thing of my own that I fixed was a little digital timer that I use in the kitchen. When you press one of the buttons the LCD screen goes blank and it resets. It felt like the battery had gone, but a new battery didn't fix it. I took it apart and cleaned all the contracts on the switches and now it's working again.

What is your favorite childhood game?

Christinewhat’s Profile PhotoChristine
My favourite toy as a kid was probably my Scalextric slot-car racing set, but I also had a really old table-top Space Invaders arcade machine.

Would you rather be blind or deaf? 👀👂

Why do these questions only ever offer the choice of two bad things? It's a very pessimistic mindset that does that.

Why did you choose to learn how to drive a manual car ? Why did you choose to learn how to drive an auto car ?

Fontaine
I learnt in a manual because it allows you to drive an automatic as well, but not the other way around. Also, my mum's car, which I learnt in, was manual. I currently drive an automatic though.

What would you say is the nicest thing you've ever worn? Do you enjoy dressing up fancy like that? 🤵‍♂️👩‍💼

I had to wear top hat and tails when I was Best Man at my friend's wedding. It was fun, but I wouldn't wear it every day. (Picture is not me).

What motivates you

Knowledge and challenge. For the past week I've been helping a guy I don't know on the other side of the Atlantic to mend his broken synthesizer (keyboard). I know a bit about electronics but not all that much about how synthesizers work at the component level. It's been a challenge but between us we've learnt a lot and we have finally figured out exactly which component is broken and he's got one on order. We'll find out soon if our tests, measurements and deductions have been correct.

Would you say it how it is or sugar coat it

Normally I say it how it is, but I'm not without tact when the situation demands it.

If I could have salmon and broccoli for dinner every day, I would.

One of my favourite meals too. How do you cook the salmon? I do mine in the oven, wrapped in foil, either with a little bit of sweet chilli sauce spread over the top, or I make my own marinade with lemon juice, olive oil, garlic, and dill and add a bit of that to the foil parcel.

😋 Are you a big eater or a small eater?

Literally a big eater.... This year I have been trying to grow huge prize winning carrots. Unfortunately I've been unable to get to the County show that I was going to enter them into, so I'm just going to eat them. This is my first that I picked today. Others should be bigger.

With summer coming to a close, what do you have planned for the autumn? 🍂🗓

Just in September I have 6 gigs booked, 2 theatre visits with possibly a third, and a ticket to watch Prime Minister's Question Time from the House of Commons' public gallery (I applied through my Member of Parliament about 3 years ago).

Do you know any partner dances? If not, is it something you'd want to learn? If you do, how comfortable would you say you are dancing that way? 💃

TobbeAsks’s Profile PhotoTobbe
I can waltz a little bit and I had a few lessons at Ceroc, which is a kind of rock and roll jive, but I'm not good at either.

How many times you took the driving test before you pass it?

Fontaine
I passed first time, but I had driven a couple of thousand miles before I actually got around to taking my test

do you believe in the simulation theory?

That we're all living inside a computer simulation? It's an interesting idea, but why does it matter? Cogito, ergo sum. (I think, therefore I am).
