Where's the chapstick?

Funny you say that cause I had some in my pocket that I got from work earlier this week. I actually am not a person who wears chapstick very often. Never needed it that much. Not that I don't like it just don't meed it as much.

Even numbers or odd?

Even. They appeal to me for no real reason other than they pair off easily. I've found that evens are more reliable than odds in all sorts of things so I tend to use them a lot. Odds a pretty fine to but evens are just so nice in my opinion.

Besides your bedroom, which room of your house do you find yourself in most often? (For me it's the kitchen, LOL.)

Upstairs in the family room or around that area.

What is your favorite summer time snack?

BlissfulBekah’s Profile PhotoQueen B
Groundnuts, it's a Ugandan food that is kind of amazing. You cook these certain nuts and add some salt to it and serve it while its warm. It is very addicting. You can't have a few nuts and call it a day, you start to want more and more. In college I hooked people onto them as they kept on eating the rather large stash of food I have. While I'm not sure if it is good for you it certainly feels healthy and fresh.
Many Ugandan snack foods are fantastic (people still ask what the recipe for Mendazi is), and I love them as well. Kind of miss sugar cane though, that was a pretty good treat when I was back there. Anyway, while I love a ton of Ugandan foods, groundnuts are the best for summer.

Story time. Topic: Ironic happening //I'm sorry for denouncing your best pony :X

Don't be sorry you let me rant about why I love Zecora and I enjoy that <3.
Hm...something that was ironic. I never fully understood the concept of irony for the longest of times, really. It took me until 11th grade to fully grasp what irony is and how to use it. Anyway, the problem is that I can't really think of any ironic stories that are somewhat interesting. Actually, story telling itself is a problem for me. Not because I don't understand how to make a story but mostly because the stories I have are all random. I never really categorize the stories I have or use them for specific purposes. Of course, there are stories that come up more of then (meeting the President, winning awards, etc.) because that's how I grab the attention of others, but I normally don't have a theme for stories.
Story telling is an art, and it is something that I personally haven't acquired yet. So I'm sorry I can't answer your question on story time but ask me enough questions and all the stories will flow out.

Secret life methods of easierness?

Actually I have none. I push myself a lot to do things that aren't necessary and as a result I rarely go the easy way.

Story time?

There are so many stories I could tell you about. The thing is that I don't know which one you want me to tell or what exactly you're looking for :c. Give me more of a prompt and I'll find a story about it that relates to my life.

Zecora is not best pony, you liar. Why did you lie?

Like a lot of people, their best pony normally has struck a cord with them in some way or fashion. For me that's what Zecora did. It felt like she had an African spirit in her that I don't get with other ponies or really any other show. The best part about this was the fact that they didn't make her primitive in any way. She just did things different but she kept her dignity while doing so. She is wise and very helpful and even if she does see people judge her she doesn't get angry over it. Her wisdom is amazing and the way she helps others is fantastic. Also the rhymes are fantastic, I know they must be a pain to write but I'm glad they do it anyway.
Though yes the way they gave this form of African culture and not mess it up makes me feel glad that the MLP team added her.

You are a good person. How can I be good person like you?

I'm not. I think that's also the secret to being a good person, to convince yourself that you can always be a better person. It's....odd. Though if I had to give advice is just be a generally friendly person first off. Talk to people first instead of waiting for them to talk to you and compliment them every once in a while. After that don't look down at people and give people the benefit of the doubt.
A really good way to look about it is to stop and put yourself in the other persons shoe first. If someone asks you for help, stop and think about times you wanted to go to people for help. Think about how much it means to that person when you say yes and how much it defeats them when you say no. The more you better the life around everyone else, the more your life will be better. If you invest your time into their life you can reap some of their profits as well.
That being said, I still don't think I am a good person yet. I still feel like I could do more and help more and be nicer. I feel like I haven't invited more people who I see sitting in a table all by themselves to sit with my group. I still have hurt people and I don't think I have redeemed myself for that just yet. So I got a while to go but I think if you personally keep on trying you will get there yourself. Thanks for the compliment though, I appreciate it <3.

Tips for getting through high school?

Oh man this is a tough one so I'll split it into two parts, the academic and social areas.
Academically, keep yourself close with teachers. Do not hesitate to talk to them when you have a problem. The more you try to handle it yourself the worse it can get. I think the key here is to show yourself humility. It's okay not to know all the answers and it is okay to be wrong. Of course you still have to try your best in every case and do whatever you can to make sure you get the best score you can get. Got a B? Great! Strive for an A now. Find outside ways to seek help when you need it too. I used khan academy when the problem was simple. When you find something that interests you don't sit there and say "hm, cool." and walk away. Go forward with that concept find out interesting things. Never stop learning because someone says that you're being too nerdy. So all in all show humility and passion and academically you will be fine.
Social is a bit different as it varies by person. First off, make some friends. You can do this through various ways but the easiest is through an activity through school. For example a play or a sport can at least give you all common interests. After that start to branch out in friends. I made sure to talk to as many people as I could and be as friendly as I can. Don't look down at people, the last thing you want to have as a label is arrogance. Smile and be there whenever you can to be a form of comfort to others. When you start to support others some will start to support you. Soon you can have a small support network, people you can talk to. People you can trust with so many things. On the subject of love, I can't help you much. I had a limited experience and I flat out fail at love (stories for another time). Keep any relationships light, the problem with HS is that it doesn't last forever and if you're slated for college you'll likely be separated and it doesn't usually last. There are cases where it can but it's risky, that's for sure. You will get people who will say "I know that {one|two|three} guy(s) who did!" But that's in comparison to how many who didn't get there.
Anyway, as to not leave on a somber note, take the time to make yourself friendly in order to get friends. They will help and support you when they can and as long as they don't drag you down, overall they will help you get through college.
Good luck in high school, I loved it and I hope you will too.

MLP FiM?

I love it. I think it's more because I like the weirdness that comes along with it. People look at me as an odd person for watching it but I think I love being odd in itself.
Also Zecora is best pony.

Is science the "why" or "how" of our existence?

This is such a weird and very hard question to answer. for me that is. I think it's because I've had to deal with this question before in my past. See, I want to say it's the "why" of our existence but that would mean that we are just experiments of nature. That when we ask "Why do we exist?" it's because the laws of science made it so happen that we would exist in this manner. The fact that we are a product of science is what intimidates me.
There is a lot I could say about this topic but I'll keep it short and say it's the "why" of our existence, but I'm still not very comfortable accepting it even though I know this is right.

Do you music?

If you mean produce no, and I don't think singing randomly counts.
If you mean like, yes. I had a radio show for video game music and you will see me will all sorts of my love on it <3.

What if all the science of the world was disproven all at once? Like, BAM everything you know was WRONG guys, sorry.

A lot of panic, that's what would happen. If everything was wrong. Now there are several ways that this could potentially happen (science has been wrong before and continuously tested via the scientific method to see if it's right).
The problem is really how it's proven wrong, I mean say there is a use case where for everything there happens to be one odd case. Then we know that we were wrong but we were also close (example Newtonian gravity being wrong but still usable for certain cases). If you mean that science itself is wrong. Well. I think we should be worried for our well being at first.
The great thing about science though is that even if it is wrong it won't stop us. You won't see all scientists in the world say WHOOPS I'M WRONG, TIME TO GIVE UP. We'll find a new way of explaining it.

If the sky wasn't blue, what color(s) would you want it to be?

BlissfulBekah’s Profile PhotoQueen B
Black so I can see the stars. But this wouldn't make a ton of sense considering how physics works.

Favorite memory?

Picking the first good one that came into memory, getting first place in the Virginia Junior Academy of Sciences. Man the excitement that ran through my body as my school cheered me on at the end. I think I'll never get anything as exciting as that.

Why does race and colour matter.

Well in a perfect world it wouldn't. Though we don't live in one and I can't give a full explanation on why it does, but I can give a decent one on how how it does.
Race has always been used as an identifier in both good and bad ways. There is this hard to understand connection that you get when you find another minority in any activity that you do. For example, being a computer scientist in a liberal arts school (10 people out of 600 in the major) gives you this sense of understanding and connection that you get just by being part of the same minority. You understand the struggles they've been through, how they can talk and even a common interest being a minority in your field. This goes for women in engineering and other small things. This entire concept applies for race as well. For a while I didn't get this as being part of Arlington the issue rarely came up except for one very...painful...occasion but other than that it has been. When I went to Lafayette College though, things started to really change. I'd talk about it more but I think I'll leave that only when people are interested.
In a sense it's not really race and color that matters, it's being the minority wherever you are. It's just very easy to identify that with race and it is the most topical part of the subject. Being a minority seperates you from whatever the majority is and some people can find that weird. When they find the minority weird they react in some strange ways. Some people reject it, others hate you for it, and some avoid it. When that happens the minority feels out of place, like they're not wanted. The worst part is that you can never really go to the majority for the problem because they never completely understand the problem. Sometimes they try to sympathize and other times they become unintentionally hurtful. You will find those who will say that they have it rough ("Why don't we have a White History Month?") and try to sympathize with you that way. They will try and justify that they're at equal levels and that we can reach a mutual understand but it never works. So instead, you find comfort in those who feel the pain, who feel what you're going through. This is how race comes into play because you have an idea of some of the pain they can go through.
Trust me, as a left-handed, African (but raised in America), Atheist, Computer Scientist in a liberal arts college, being the minority isn't a new thing. I have been, in some way or another, a minority. So yes, in a perfect world it wouldn't matter but it does and this is why and how.

日本が好きですか? jjさんは、日本語を話せますか?

I ran this through a translator so you can tell I can't speak Japanese.
That being said I do enjoy a lot of things that come from Japan, from your music, to your games, anime, and tech.
Though I will be taking Japanese next semester so that will be fun c:
