what are the first things that you think someone should work on if trying to play melee competitively? i started a few months ago and i am able to wavedash consistently and L-cancel somewhat consistently. I am in between fox, falco, shiek, and marth as the character i want to dedicate fully to.
Recovery (this is often forgotten), basic BnBs, controlling your character/spacing, DO NOT LEARN WAVEDASHING until you're at least decent at the game, edgeguarding and most importantly, try to understand how the fundamentals work.
An easy quote to describe how important fundamentals are:
"You can practice shooting eight hours a day, but if your technique is wrong, then all you become is very good at shooting the wrong way. Get the fundamentals down and the level of everything you do will rise.”
