Yeah from an outsider's point of view it may be bad but for the person making the decision for himself maybe he saw something good in it. Let's take self harm as an example. Ofcourse we see it as wrong. It's a bad decision in everyone's eyes. But for the person doing it maybe it is saving them from doing something more drastic or preventing them from taking their own life.
