What's one easy way to waste a life?

claudiahysa’s Profile PhotoClaudia
I figure that if you're so busy trying to be perfect - you'll go in the sea when you're skinnier, you'll run that race when you're faster, you'll love that person when you're more stable - you miss so much of your life.
The way I see it, you might well get hit by a bus tomorrow, so you should live today.

What is the funniest thing you've ever seen that didn't really warrant laughter as an appropriate response but was still hilarious anyway?

Okay, so.
There is a Pokestop (?) just around the corner from my shop, and all day I watch people go past with their heads down and phones out. The kids are pretty great about it - they're aware enough to side-step signs/people/dog bowls etc.
It's the adults who get super involved.
Opposite my shop, there is a lamppost. There is also a fairly high curb.
Two days ago, I watched a 20-25 year old guy walk straight into that lamppost. Yesterday, I watched a 25-30 year old guy fall off the curb. And oh my God, I died. I'm sure they were fine, but I was in tears and crouched behind the counter so couldn't see. It's just the sheer confidence that the guy walked into the lamppost with?! I'm not over it.
Pokemon Go watching is almost as fun as Dog Spotting, I swear to god.

Describe your perfect holiday

My brother and I are in the midst of planning a five - six week trip to Australia and I am SO excited. Rob is going for the permaculture side of things, I'm going for the sailing and marine conservation. So if any Aussies on here have recommendations for what to see/do/drink when in Australia, hit me up?!
I'm not totally fussy on holidays - having done a shit-tonne of travelling in the Middle East, I just get really excited about clean drinking water. And if there's nature and sea and animals and sports then that's just - I can't top it. That's THE holiday.

Would you rather adopt a puppy/kitten, or an older dog/cat? Would you ever get a pet from a rescue centre?

I've adopted both puppies and older dogs, but never cats (on account of, you know, the prevailing canine influence in the household.)
My choccie labs both came from the Labrador Lifeline Trust, which is a fabulous rescue centre based in Basingstoke (I think? Can't really remember!) that only rehomes labs. Both of mine were bred as Cruft-standard pedigrees, and the Trust burnt their pedigree documentation to ensure that they were rehomed because they were loved, rather than as studs. And honestly, with the idiocy I have seen from my two labs, I'm not sure they should procreate. Who eats bumble bees?!
As for the two others; Mia was the runt of the litter and the reject. So it wasn't that I decided to love and adore her from day one - it's that I didn't have a choice in the matter. She just crawled into my lap. That night I camped out on the floor with her, because puppies hate being left alone, and we've been a team ever since. She knows when I'm sad, because she tucks her head in my lap and is just there. I think she was about nine weeks when I took this photo? Stinking cute. She has always been stinking cute.
Ted was an accident on a local farm. His mother was thirteen, disappeared one December and returned on Christmas Day with a puppy. The father has been tracked down to the sheepdog one farm over, although his owner denies it vehemently. Anyway, the farmer that Ted was born to is 81, and did not want to be running around after a puppy. So Ted was just being fed cornflakes occasionally and left to bring himself up.
So we bumped into Doug, saw this ridiculously poofy puppy, and instantly offered to take him home. Doug was delighted - Mia and Wispa took some convincing that this was a good idea. I called him Teddy Bear as a nickname, and four years later the poor pup is still called Ted(dy Bear.)

How's your shop going?

Well!
I mean, my card machine has just died and been sent back (Want to hear a joke? Mobile signal in the Welsh mountains!) but other than that, I've been open nine days and I've already covered the rent for the month! Which is insane, I'm so excited.
I've had my Animal rep up from Poole to see me, and it turns out that - other than Cardiff - I'm the main stockist of Animal in Mid-Wales. My rep is insanely awesome. She has blue hair, first bumped me, and called me rad. I'm naming my first born after her.
Then my Gul rep came up from Cornwall to see me yesterday, and again - so neat. He gave me sunglasses from last year's stock too, so. Much love. He can be the first born's godfather.
Other than that, the reception for the Beach Hut has been ridiculously positive. And an ex of mine is coming back from Surrey to see it, so it's making an impact, bless it.
We have shirts now, too. It just keeps getting better!

Hows your shop going

How did you celebrate your sweet sixteen?

I honestly can't remember? So it can't have been massively exciting 😉 There's a very good chance that I was abroad (we beat Turkey holllaaaa), but I can't remember if that was just beforehand? We shouldn't have been playing it anyway, the season ended three months prior.
But! I definitely went to "my" beach, down Three Cliffs way. And I definitely remember spending a stupid amount on a candle that smelt of cut grass. My mother despaired, saying that I should actually just cut the grass. So I did that, and then carried on sniffing my marvellous candle 😉

Did you grow up in the city or the country? Which do you prefer now? Why? #No4GInMyRemoteParadise

I've always been a country girl. Always. There was never mobile signal in the house on account of them being super old (1400's and 1600's) (that's right, America - you weren't even born yet) (you weren't even an iDEA yet) so the walls were ridiculously thick.
Now, there's no mobile signal for six miles in any direction because of mountains and stuff. I tried to run a card terminal off the mobile signal in my shop - which is in the middle of town, perfectly civilised - and the signal just wasn't good enough.
I love it. Cities are too noisy for me, they're too in your face. And I love being able to run for hours and not see anybody. I love that I don't have to worry about my pets having enough room. I love being able to breath clean air. I love being able to see each and every star at night.

What's your favourite time of day and why? What do you usually like doing during this time?

MonaLisa9’s Profile PhotoEm ♫
I just love the golden hour that comes at sunrise or dusk.
The light is enchanting - and the temperature is usually just right for runs! So I tend to spend some of those windows running, and some taking photos, and some playing with my dogs, and some chilling with friends - we have a haunt at a restaurant by the river, and the seating goes right down to the edge. Smokey jazz comes drifting out to join you, and I dated one saxophone player who could shadow each note on my arm. It's just a really lovely place to spend that time of evening. They're my cool-down times, before or after the day gets too manic :)

What kind of weightlifting routine do you use?

My grandparents' expectations.
Okay, no.
I don't have too much of one, to be honest. I keep meaning to get one, and I've gone as far as talking to one of my trainers about it - but we got distracted by this video of a lemur wearing socks and then he went to Borneo for a year to conserve monkeys and that kind of put an end to that.

What are some of the things you are really bad at?

☀️ Checking my mirrors whilst driving. Do I appreciate the importance of it? Yes, absolutely. Will I continue to forget their existence for 60% of my journey? Why yes, most likely.
☀️ Sitting still. I start feeling itchy in my own skin and am generally hell to be around on rainy days. I can't do it - I have to do some kind of exercise.
☀️ Writing CVs. I can't even remember what I did last week, let alone where I've worked and when and blah. Adulting is hard sometimes.
☀️ Handling untruths. I get that sometimes white lies are necessary and stop people from getting hurt, but it doesn't sit right with me.
☀️ Trains and buses. I don't know if they're coming or going. I don't know if I'm coming or going. It's just too confusing.
☀️ I have this issue with telling guys "nah, you're alright, fam." Can't do it. Should be able to but y'know, product of multiple marriages and divorces right here. So I date guys I don't want to date because I feel guilty and I know I have this reputation as a slut/airhead because I'll be able to stomach it for a few months and then no more. So that's something super fun to work on.
☀️ Working out how much rice to cook. I always, always cook way too much because it looks so little when it's dry?!
☀️ I get possessive over my stuff if I don't know you. So many people have picked up my badminton racket and decided to go on court with it, and I basically wrestle my baby from their grasp. Don't touch my baby.
☀️ I read my texts/whatsapps/facebook messages and have a marvellous giggle over them, and tell myself that I'll reply as soon as I'm off court. I forget. I always forget, and it doesn't mean that I don't love and respect the people sending me the messages - I just assume I already did that and am always amazed to find out that I've not replied, woops, my bad.
☀️ Shaving my legs. I have scars. I have so many scars.
☀️ Failing. It scares me. I have made myself ridiculously ill out of the fear of not being good enough - mostly on the academic side but then sports and family events and that whole kaboodle. But that's getting better. I can be kinder.
☀️ Staying up late. I am dead on my feet by eleven - if I'm up any later then I must really, really like you/whatever I'm eating/your face.
